LEGO 43218 Anna and Elsa's Magical Carousel LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO Disney Princess set "Anna and Elsa's Magical Carousel". Play with your favorite Disney Frozen characters on this magical carousel! This cool LEGO Disney set lets you hang out with Disney’s Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf on a beautiful carousel, inspired by the iconic ice castle. Go for a spin or hop onto 1 of 2 mini sleds and have an exciting race. When you’re ready for a break, set the carousel up for display in your room until next time! The box cover shows the four characters having lots of snow fun in the magical winter wonderland of Arendelle! Kristoff and Anna are having a little race on their sleds on a snowy hill. Meanwhile, Anna and Olaf are swirling around in the magical carousel – it is a beautiful gazebo on an intricately designed base and topped with an icy-blue tower. It even has a built-in rotating mechanism! It is a beautiful building made from crystal blue and white bricks and pieces with a large glistening snowflake in the middle. In the bottom right corner, there is a portrait shot of the royal sisters Anna and Elsa. In the background of the scene, there are snow-covered mountains and trees, and the sky is covered in pastel blue and pink polar lights and sparkling stars. Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you! The box contains 1 booklet with visual building instructions, 2 bags with numbers printed on them, and 1 loose piece: an octagonal plate 10x10 with shaft hole. Ask a sighted person to help you find the correct bag! Carefully open bag number 1 and any small sub-bags in it. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Anna Minidoll, the Kristoff Minidoll, the two mini sleds, and the base of the carousel. Before you start building, ask a sighted person to help you sort the pieces by color. This makes finding the correct pieces even easier! First, we will build the Anna Minidoll. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 light nougat brown Minidoll head, (Anna's head is slightly more oval than Kristoff's head, but it is really hard to distinguish the two. When in doubt, ask a sighted person to help you or simply pick the head that you find better fitting for Anna) and 1 light nougat brown and purple violet Minidoll body with long dress. Put the Minidoll head on the body. Find 1 dark orange, light lavender and purple violet Anna hairpiece with 2 plaits and cap. Put it on the head. The Anna Minidoll is finished! Well done! Anna is wearing her iconic dress from the first Frozen movie: it is a royal blue dress, the skirt has intricate white decorative stitching in the form of diamonds, and the bodice is black velvet with golden and light blue decorative stitching. She is wearing her pink coat over the dress. Her red hair is plaited, and she is wearing a pink and light lavender colored cap. Anna has green eyes and some freckles on her cheeks. Her lips are light red and curled into a lovely smile. Now, we will build the first mini sled. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 reddish brown inverted flat tile 2x4, (This piece is smooth at the bottom, and the top is covered in hollow knobs) and 1 medium nougat brown plate 1x2 with 2 vertical clasps on long side. Put the inverted tile 2x4 horizontally on the table. Put the plate 1x2 horizontally on the left half of the back row, clasps to the back. Find another medium nougat brown plate 1x2 with 2 vertical clasps on long side. Put it horizontally in front of the previous piece, clasps to the front. Find 2 reddish brown plates 1x2 with smooth roof tile 1x1 on top. Put 1 horizontally to the right of the previous piece, slope to the right. Put the other one horizontally behind the previous piece, slope to the right. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 purple violet smooth curve brick 1x2, and 1 purple violet plate 2x2 with 1 knob. Put the plate 2x2 to the left of the 2 smooth roof tiles. Put the brick 1x2 vertically to the left of the previous piece, curve to the right. Find 2 white Minifigure hockey sticks. Hold 1 hockey stick horizontally, blade on the right and pointing to the top. Snap the left half of the shaft into the 2 clasps at the front. Repeat at the back with the other hockey stick: hold it horizontally, blade to the right and pointing up, and snap the shaft into the clasps at the back. The first mini sled is finished! Great job! If you want to take it for a test ride, put Anna on the seat and give it a go! Next up, we will build the Kristoff Minidoll. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 black, earth blue and sand blue Minidoll body with pants, and 1 light nougat brown Minidoll head. Put the head on the body. Find 1 pale ocher yellow hairpiece with short hair and side fringe. Put it on the head. Now, we will build the second mini sled. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 reddish brown inverted flat tile 2x4, and 1 medium nougat brown plate 1x2 with 2 vertical clasps on long side. Put the inverted tile 2x4 horizontally on the table. Put the plate 1x2 horizontally on the left half of the back row, clasps to the back. Find 1 medium nougat brown plate 1x2 with 2 vertical clasps on long side. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 earth blue smooth curve brick 1x2, and 1 earth blue plate 2x2 with 1 knob. Put the plate 2x2 to the left of the 2 smooth roof tiles. Put the brick 1x2 vertically to the left of the previous piece, curve to the right. Find 2 white Minifigure hockey sticks. Hold 1 horizontally, blade to the right and pointing up, and snap the left half of its shaft into the clasps at the front. Repeat symmetrically at the back, blade again to the right and pointing up. The Kristoff Minidoll and his sled are finished! Great Job! Kristoff is wearing black shoes, blue pants and his black fur-lined coat with purple hemlines and a blue and purple belt. The sleeves of his shirt are pale blue. He has brown eyes and pale pink lips. Time for a sled race, don't you think? Next, we build the base of the carousel. Find 2 white plates 6x6 with one rounded corner. Put 1 on the table, rounded corner to the back right. Make sure its knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you. Put the other one on the table in front of the previous piece, rounded corner to the front right, and push them together. Make sure the two long sides that are touching are evenly aligned. Find 1 aqua blue smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔. Put it vertically on the 2 middle knobs of the rightmost column, slope to the right. This piece connects the two previous pieces. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 medium azure blue brick 1x2, and 1 pale ocher yellow flat tile 2x2. Put the brick 1x2 vertically to the left of the previous piece. Put the flat tile 2x2 to the left of the previous piece. Find 1 black plate 4x4 with gear ring and middle hole. Put it centered to the left of the previous piece, one half overhanging to the left. Find 2 white plates 6x6 with one rounded corner. We will now mirror the first two plates with rounded corners. Continue for detailed instructions. Turn one so that its rounded corner is to the back left. Mount it underneath the previous piece to the left of the backmost plate 6x6 with rounded corner. Make sure their edges are flush. Turn the other one so that its rounded corner is to the front left. Mount it underneath the plate with gear ring in front of the previous piece. The four plates 6x6 with rounded corner should form one base plate with four rounded corners together. Find 3 pale ocher yellow flat tiles 2x2. Put 1 centered in front of the plate 4x4 with gear ring. Put 1 centered to the left of the plate 4x4 with gear ring. Put the last one centered behind the plate 4x4 with gear ring. If done correctly, there are now 4 flat tiles 2x2 symmetrically positioned on the 4 sides of the plate with gear ring. Find 4 dark stone grey corner tiles 1x2 - 1x2. We will put them around the 4 corners of the plate 4x4 with gear ring. Continue for detailed instructions. Turn 1 so that its outer corner is pointing to the back right. Put it to the right of the previous piece in that orientation, hugging the back right corner of the plate 4x4 with gear ring. Turn 1 so that its outer corner is to the back left, and put it around the back left corner of the plate with gear ring. Turn 1 so that its outer corner is to the front left, and put it around the front left corner of the plate with gear ring. Turn the last one so that its outer corner is to the front right, and put it around the front right corner of the plate with gear ring. Find 8 purple violet round tiles 1x1. Identify the frontmost flat tile 2x2, and put 1 round tile on the empty knob to its left and another one on the empty knob to its right. If done correctly, there are 3 empty knobs towards the outer edge and 2 empty knobs in front of each round tile 1x1. Repeat symmetrically at the back to the left and right of the backmost flat tile 2x2. Put another round tile on the empty knob in front of the rightmost flat tile 2x2, and another one on the empty knob behind it. Repeat symmetrically on the left. Collect the following 6 pieces: 3 aqua blue smooth roof tiles 1x2x⅔, and 3 medium azure blue bricks 1x2. Put 1 brick 1x2 horizontally in front of the front flat tile 2x2. Put 1 smooth roof tile 1x2 horizontally in front of the previous piece, slope to the front. You might have noticed that we have replicated the pattern of the pieces that we have mounted in the very beginning on the right edge. Repeat this symmetrically on the back and left edges. You can build that from memory and skip the next 4 sentences, or continue for detailed descriptions. Put 1 brick 1x2 horizontally behind the flat tile 2x2 at the back. Put 1 smooth roof tile 1x2 horizontally behind the previous piece, slope to the back. Put 1 brick 1x2 vertically to the left of the flat tile 2x2 on the left side. Put the remaining smooth roof tile 1x2 vertically to the left of the previous piece, slope to the left. Find 1 medium azure blue round plate 4x4 with middle hole. Put it on top of the plate 4x4 with gear ring. Make sure it is centered and does not protrude over the plate with gear ring. You can turn this plate once it is mounted! But as long as we are building, it is important to keep it in a straight orientation: make sure its knobs are forming straight rows and columns matching the rest of the structure. Collect the following 3 pieces: 2 black plates 1x2, and 1 pale ocher yellow plate 2x4. Put 1 plate 1x2 horizontally on the 2 frontmost knobs of the previous piece. Be careful as the previous piece can move. Put the plate 2x4 horizontally centered behind the previous piece. Put the other plate 1x2 horizontally behind the previous piece. Find 4 medium azure blue bricks 1x2. We will put them on the bricks 1x2 we have already mounted. Continue for detailed instructions. Put 1 horizontally centered on the second row from the front, directly behind the smooth roof tile 1x2 on the frontmost edge. Repeat symmetrically at the back. Put 1 vertically on the second column from the right, directly to the left of the smooth roof tile 1x2 on the rightmost edge. Repeat symmetrically on the left. Find 1 light lavender brick 2x4. Put it horizontally centered on top of the plate 2x4 in the very center of the structure. Again, be careful not to move the rotating part out of alignment. Find 8 transparent light blue corner roof tiles 2x2x2 with 3 sloped sides. Put 1 on the 2 frontmost rows directly to the right of the stacked bricks 1x2 and the smooth roof tile, slopes to the front and right. Put 1 on the 2 frontmost rows directly to the left of the stacked bricks 1x2 and the smooth roof tile, slopes to the front and left. If done correctly, the singular top knobs of these two pieces form one horizontal row with the 2 bricks of the stacked bricks 1x.2. Repeat symmetrically at the back. Put 1 on the 2 rightmost columns directly behind the stacked bricks 1x2 and the smooth roof tile, slopes to the right and back. Put 1 on the 2 rightmost columns directly in front of the stacked bricks 1x2 and the smooth roof tile, slopes to the right and front. Repeat symmetrically on the left edge. Find 8 medium azure blue corner bricks 1x2 - 1x2 with cut-off corner. First, let's make stacks of 2. Put 1 corner brick on the table, and put another one on top, perfectly matching their shapes. Make 3 more stacks like that with the remaining 6 corner bricks. Turn 1 stack so that its cut-off corner is to the front left and its recess to the back right. Mount it in that orientation on the insides of the 2 corner roof tiles in the front left corner. This means that the 3 outermost base plate knobs in the front left corner remain empty. Next, turn 1 stack so that its cut-off corner is to the front right. Mount it between the 2 corner roof tiles in the front right corner on their inner sides, leaving the 3 outermost knobs of the front right corner empty. Repeat this symmetrically at the back with the 2 remaining corner brick stacks. Collect the following 3 pieces: 2 pale ocher yellow bricks 1x2x2, and 1 bright red brick 2x4 with 3 top cross holes. Put the brick 2x4 horizontally centered on the already mounted brick 2x4 in the center of the structure. Make sure to remember the location of this brick. We will be using its middle cross hole at a later stage. Put 1 brick 1x2x2 horizontally in front of the previous piece and the other brick 1x2x2 horizontally behind the previous piece. Find 4 white plates 1x4 with 2 knobs. Put 1 vertically centered on the rightmost edge on top of the 2 corner roof tiles and the stack of bricks 1x2 mounted there. Repeat symmetrically on the left. Put 1 horizontally centered on the frontmost edge. Repeat symmetrically at the back. Find 4 white corner tiles 1x2 - 1x2 with cut-off corner. Put them on the 4 stacks of corner bricks with cut-off corners, perfectly matching their shapes. Find 1 white octagonal plate 10x10 with inner cut-out. (Do not confuse this with the octagonal plate 10x10 that only has a small shaft hole in its middle. The cut-out is 6x6 with 4 1x1 corners protruding inwards.) Mount it on top of the structure. Make sure its eight edges match the outer edges of the top surface. Find 4 medium azure blue flat tiles 1x4. Put 1 vertically centered on the second column from the right of the previous piece. Put 1 horizontally centered on the second row from the back. Put 1 vertically centered on the second column from the left. Put the last one horizontally centered on the second row from the front. Find 4 medium azure blue triangular flat tiles 1x2 - 1x2. Turn 1 so that its outer corner is pointing to the back right. Mount it on the 3 knobs between the 2 previous pieces. If done correctly, this piece matches the shape of the corner protruding inwards of the octagonal plate 10x10 with cut-out. Put the other three pieces on the remaining three corners protruding inwards, each between 2 flat tiles 1x4 from the previous step. Find 1 black cross axle 2m with 2 grooves. (2m means that this piece is about 2 knobs long) Insert it from the top into the middle cross hole in the very center of the structure. Make sure about half of it sticks out towards the top. The base of the magical carousel is finished! Great job! Put it aside for now, we will continue with other things first. Open bag number 2. You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Elsa Minifigure, the Olaf Figurine, and the gazebo and tower of the magical carousel. Next, we will build the Elsa Minidoll. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 light nougat brown and medium azure blue Minidoll body with long dress, and 1 light nougat brown Minidoll head. Put the head on the body. Find 1 lemon yellow hairpiece with one twisted plait. Put it on the head. The Elsa Minidoll is finished! Well done! She is wearing her characteristic ice-blue dress with white and silvery snowflake patterns. Elsa has blue eyes and has a beautiful smile on her face. Next up, we will build the Olaf Figurine. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 white Minifigure head, (This piece is printed. It is shaped like the head of a regular Minifigure, which means it resembles a round brick 1x1 but is a bit broader and a bit shorter) and 1 white and medium blue Olaf head. Put Olaf's head on top of the Minifigure head-shaped piece. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 bright orange twisted cone with small shaft, and 1 reddish brown tree branch 1x1 with 3 small twigs. Insert the small shaft of the twisted cone into the small round opening at the front of Olaf's face. This is his carrot nose! Insert the bottom of the tree branch into Olaf's head from the top. This twig is Olaf's hairdo! The Olaf Figurine is finished! Well done! Olaf is a snowman, so his body is white and printed with brown twig arms and 3 black dots for buttons. He has a beaming smile on his face with black eyes and happily arched eyebrows. Olaf is a wonderful friend and playmate! Now, we will build the carousel tower. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 white trapezoid plate 2x4, and 1 medium azure blue octagonal plate 10x10 with shaft hole. Put the octagonal plate 10x10 upside down on the table. Make sure that one of the straight edges is in front of you. Flip the trapezoid plate upside down and turn it so that its longest side is on the right, pointed angles pointing to the front and back. Mount it in that orientation centered on the rightmost edge. Its longest edge has the same length as a straight edge of the octagonal plate. Find another 3 white trapezoid plates 2x4. We will mount them similarly on the 3 remaining straight edges of the octagonal plate. Continue for detailed instructions. Turn 1 so that its longest edge is to the back, and mount it centered on the backmost edge. Repeat symmetrically on the front edge. Put the last one on the left edge, its longest edge to the left. Collect the following 5 pieces: 2 aqua blue bricks 1x2, 1 pale ocher yellow round brick 2x2 with top cross hole, and 2 white flat tiles 2x3 with arrow-shaped end. First, flip the octagonal plate right side up again. Make sure that one of the straight edges is facing you and the knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you. Put the round brick 2x2 into the exact center of the octagonal plate. You can identify the center by looking for the round hole in the middle of the plate. Put 1 brick 1x2 horizontally in front of the round brick, and the other brick 1x2 horizontally behind the round brick. Put 1 flat tile 2x3 vertically behind the previous piece, arrow-shaped end to the back. Repeat symmetrically at the front, arrow-shaped end to the front. Collect the following 5 pieces: 2 aqua blue bricks 1x4, 2 white flat tiles 2x3 with arrow-shaped end, and 1 aqua blue round tile 1x1. Put 1 brick 1x4 vertically centered to the left of the round brick and the 2 bricks 1x2. Put 1 flat tile 2x3 horizontally centered to the left of the previous piece, arrow-shaped end to the left. Repeat symmetrically on the right: put the other brick 1x4 vertically centered to the right of the round brick and the 2 bricks 1x2, and put the other flat tile 2x3 horizontally centered to its right, arrow pointing to the right. Keep the round tile 1x1 for the next step. Find another 7 aqua blue round tiles 1x1. We will put the 8 round tiles 1x1 around the four corners formed by the bricks in the middle. Continue for detailed instructions. First, identify the 4 bricks that form a square in the center of the structure. Find the brick corner pointing to the front right. Now, put one round tile 1x1 to the right of that brick corner and another one in front of it. Find the brick corner pointing to the front left. Put 1 round tile to the left of that brick corner and another 1 in front of it. Repeat symmetrically on the 2 brick corners at the back. Find 4 light lavender flower pieces 1x1 with through-hole. Put one between the 2 round tiles 1x2 mounted in the previous step in the front right corner. This means it will sit diagonally in front of the front right corner of the brick 1x4 in the right half of the structure. Repeat symmetrically with the other 3 flower pieces in the other 3 corners. Find 1 pale ocher yellow round brick 2x2 with top cross hole. Put it on top of the already mounted round brick 2x2 in the very center of the structure. Find 4 medium azure blue bricks 1x2 with 2 side knobs on long side. Put 1 horizontally in front of the previous piece, side knobs to the front. Repeat symmetrically at the back, side knobs to the back. Put 1 vertically to the right of the round brick 2x2, side knobs to the right. Repeat symmetrically on the left, side knobs to the left. Find 4 grey-white round bricks 1x1. The previous pieces have left the four corner knobs of the bricks below them empty. Put the 4 round bricks on those empty corner knobs between the previous pieces. Find 4 white one-stepped plates 2x2x⅔ with 2 side knobs. We will mount them on the heightened 8x8 surface we have created during the previous steps. Continue for details. Put 1 on the front right 2x2 corner of the heightened surface in the center, side knobs pointing to the front. Put 1 to the left of the previous piece, side knobs to the front. Put 1 behind the previous piece, side knobs to the back. Put the last one to the right of the previous piece, side knobs to the back. Find 1 aqua blue plate 2x4. Put it horizontally centered on the lower surface created by the 4 previous pieces. Find 4 transparent light blue corner roof tiles 2x2x2 with 3 sloped sides. Put 1 on the front right corner of the heightened surface in the center, slopes to the front and right. Put 1 to the left of the previous piece, slopes to the front and left. Put 1 behind the previous piece, slopes to the left and back. Put the last one to the right of the previous piece, slopes to the back and right. If done correctly, the 4 top knobs of these pieces form a 2x2 square surface. The shape these pieces make is similar to a pyramid with a cut-off top. Find 1 aqua blue round plate 2x2 with 1 knob. Put it on top of the 4 previous pieces. Find 2 transparent light blue flat tiles 2x3 with arrow-shaped end. Flip 1 upright so that its arrow-shaped end is pointing to the top and the smooth surface is facing you. Mount it centered on the side knobs pointing to the front. Make sure its bottom edge is touching the identically shaped flat tile 2x3 already mounted on the base plate there. If done correctly, there is still 1 empty side knob to its left and 1 empty side knob to its right. Put the other one upright vertically centered on the side knobs pointing to the left, arrow-shaped end to the top. Again, the bottom edge should touch the identically shaped flat tile 2x3 mounted on the base plate. Find another 2 transparent light blue flat tiles 2x3 with arrow-shaped end. Put 1 upright vertically centered on the side knobs pointing to the right, matching the orientation and placement of the previous piece. Repeat symmetrically at the back, matching the orientation and placement of the identical piece at the front. Find 4 transparent light blue spear tips. Insert the shafts of the spear tips into the through-holes of the 4 flower pieces 1x1 mounted on the base plate. The spear tips should stick out towards the top. Find 2 transparent light blue windscreens 4x5½x1⅓. Flip 1 upright so that its arrow-shaped tip is pointing to the top and its hollow is to the left. Mount it in that orientation centered on the right side of the heightened structure, using the 2 remaining side knobs pointing to the right. Repeat symmetrically on the left. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 light lavender flower piece 1x1 with through-hole, and 1 transparent light blue spear tip. Put the flower piece 1x1 on the top knob in the very center of the structure. Insert the small shaft of the spear tip into the hole of the flower piece, spear tip pointing to the top. The carousel tower is finished! Well done, that was a very intricate build! Put it aside for now and let's continue with the gazebo part. Next, we will assemble the carousel gazebo. Collect the following 2 pieces: 1 light lavender round plate 8x8 with shaft hole, and 1 transparent light blue dome 2x2 with 1 knob. Put the round plate 8x8 on the table. Make sure its knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you. Note that the outermost rows and columns only consist of 2 knobs each. Put the dome 2x2 in the very center of the round plate. Find 2 aqua blue round plates 2x2 with 1 knob. Put 1 centered on the frontmost edge. This means that it will cover the 2 knobs of the frontmost row and the 2 knobs behind them. Repeat symmetrically at the back. Find 1 white round plate 1x1 with through-hole. Put it on top of the dome 2x2 in the middle. Find 1 transparent light blue snowflake with 6 shaft ends. Insert one of the shaft ends into the hole of the previous piece. Turn the snowflake vertically so that its shaft ends are pointing to the front and back (as well as up and down). Find 2 aqua blue half-circle plates 1x2 with 1 knob. Put 1 vertically on the rightmost column, half-circle to the right. Repeat symmetrically on the left, half-circle to the left. Find 2 aqua blue arch doors 1x6x7 with pillars. Put 1 vertically to the right of the previous piece. This means that it will be mounted on the second row from the left edge. Repeat symmetrically on the right. Find 2 aqua blue bricks 1x6 with inside arch. Put 1 horizontally on the 2 frontmost knobs of the 2 previous pieces to connect them. Note that these 2 knobs are one step lower than the topmost knobs of the arch doors. Repeat symmetrically at the back. The gazebo is finished! Great job! Now, we will put it all together. First, mount the tower centered on top of the gazebo. Make sure the straight edges of the tower's base plate are at the front, back, left and right. Make sure those edges are symmetrically overhanging to all four sides. To finish the magical carousel, we will mount the gazebo with tower on top of the base. Keep in mind that the middle of the carousel base is moveable, so before mounting the top, make sure the knobs of the movable plate in the middle are perfectly aligned with the knobs surrounding it. Make sure the straight edges of the octagonal plate 10x10 in the tower and the octagonal plate 10x10 in the base are aligned with each other, and mount the gazebo with tower on the carousel base. You have finished building the entire set! Fantastic work, this set had some tricky parts! Give the carousel a spin to see if it's working! Our heroes Olaf, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff are probably already waiting to give it a try themselves. Let them have a dance party in the carousel or a fun sledding contest down the next snowy hill. Enjoy!
