LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO Harry Potter set "Hedwig at 4 Privet Drive". |
Build, display and play with your own enchanting model of snowy owl Hedwig! Recreate the look of Harry's pet in LEGO style and adjust her head, wings and tail for cute poses. Perch Hedwig on the road sign for Privet Drive, where Harry Potter lived with the Dursleys. And what's inside Harry's trunk? A portrait of Harry and his parents, an "A History of Magic" book and a wand! |
The box cover shows Hedwig with all her lovely details. The magical owl is snowy white with some light grey features, like the pattern of her chest feathers or the bottom side of her flight feathers. She has big round eyes with bright yellow irises and big, pitch black pupils. Hedwig is sitting on the Privet Drive street sign, but it looks like she is about to take off: she is spreading her beautiful wings! The street sign is standing on a neat patch of grass with small yellow flowers. In the background, harry's trunk is standing on the street. Its lid is slightly opened, and its contents are lined up in front of it: these are Harry's most valued possessions: a photograph of his parents holding him as a baby, a copy of the book "A History of Magic ", and his powerful wand with wand case. By the way: this street we are talking about is unmistakably Privet Drive because the house that is depicted in the background is the Dursleys' home. The yellow brick house with the three barred windows used to be Harry's home, too. In the bottom right corner are portraits of the movie characters of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. They are wearing their Hogwarts school uniforms in Gryffindor colors, and harry is casting a spell with his wand which sends a lightning bolt across the top of the box cover, cutting off the scene in 4 Privet drive. But now, let's start building! |
Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you! |
The box contains 1 booklet with visual building instructions, 6 bags with numbers printed on them, and 1 sheet with 6 stickers. Ask a sighted person to help you find the correct bag! |
Carefully open bag number 1 and any small sub-bags in it. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the bottom half of Harry's trunk. |
Before you start building, ask a sighted person to help you sort the pieces by color. This makes finding the correct pieces even easier! |
First, we will build Harry's trunk. |
Collect the following 2 pieces: |
1 reddish brown plate 2x2 with 2 knobs, |
and 1 reddish brown plate 1x6. |

This sticker is printed with the book cover of "A History of Magic". The base color is beige, the embellishments are golden and the title is printed in black small caps in the middle of the book cover, one word per line. There is a fine double line on the outer edges that turn into two snake heads turning towards each other in the four book corners. In the center of the cover, surrounding the title, is a double lined diamond shape. The areas outside of that diamond are embellished with tiny stars. |
Find 1 pale ocher yellow flat tile 1x4. |
Put it on the 4 knobs of the brick. |
The "A History of Magic" book is finished! Well done! Put it into the trunk. |
Collect the following 2 pieces: |

Put 1 on the left knob protruding to the front, curve running from left to right. |
Put the other one on the right knob protruding to the front, curve running from left to right. |
The street sign is finished! Well done! Leave it flat on the table and fetch the green patch we have built before. Make sure that the green patch is still upright (this means that its main knobs are pointing to the top). It should be oriented horizontally so that the 2 asymmetrically placed side knobs are pointing towards you. |
We will have a weird building orientation for a few steps now. Pick up the street sign but make sure to keep it flat (do not flip it upright yet!). This means that its two pillars are pointing to the back. Mount the 2 backmost knobs on the 2 pillar ends on the knobs of the green patch that are currently pointing to the top. This means the sign will float in the air towards the front (or tilt down towards the front when released). This is correct! The pillar ends will enclose the highest row of knobs while there is 1 empty knob on the outer side of each pillar. |
This build is a bit awkward now, the street sign will likely make the whole build tilt towards the front. This is ok for now. |
Find 2 dark green bricks 1x1. |
Put 1 on the rightmost knob to the right of the pillar end. |
Repeat symmetrically on the left. |
Collect the following 3 pieces: |
