LEGO 71471-B DreamZzz Mateo's Off-Road Car - Path A (Buggy) 

LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO set "DreamZzz Mateo's Off-Road Car - Path A (Buggy)".

Note: these are the instructions for the buggy extension of this set. If you still need to build the main build with the Mateo Minifigure and basic glider, or if you would like to build the quadcopter extension, go back to the instructions website and navigate to the corresponding instructions.

If you have already built the quadcopter extension and would like to rebuild it into the buggy now, disassemble the parts used for the quadcopter extension and strip down the structure until you are left with the basic glider again. Some of those bricks will be reused for the buggy.

If you like, you can ask a sighted person to sort the pieces by color again.

Now, we will convert the basic glider into a dune buggy. Fetch the remaining bricks from bag number 2 and/or the bricks you have previously used for the quadcopter extension.

Find 1 dark stone grey plate 1x2.

Flip the glider upside down so that the base plate 2x8 is toward the top. Make sure it's oriented horizontally, with the higher half with the propulsion on the right and the lower half on the left.

Mount the plate 1x2 horizontally centered on the base plate. Since we don't have rows and columns to count, let's count the "mounting rings" that can be found at the bottom of plates, etc.: make sure there are 4 empty mounting rings to the left of this plate and 1 empty mounting ring to its right.

Find 2 black one-stepped inverted curve tiles 1x2.

Put 1 horizontally on the right half of the previous piece, curve to the right.

Put the other one horizontally to the left of the previous piece, curve to the left.

Next up, we will build the front axle of the buggy.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright red cross axle 4m, (4m means that this piece is about 4 knobs long)

and 1 white technic lever 2m. (This is a flat 1x2 piece with rounded corners and 2 cross holes.)

Hold the technic lever upright, cross holes running from left to right.

Hold the cross axle horizontally and insert it into the lower cross hole coming from the right.

Make sure that the cross axle is flush with the technic lever on the left side and only protrudes towards the right.

Find 1 white technic lever 2m.

Hold it upright, cross holes running from left to right.

Put its lower cross hole on the protruding cross axle and push the technic lever all the way to the left until it touches the first technic lever.

Flip the glider right side up again and turn it vertically so that the propulsion is at the back and the smooth engine hood is towards the front.

Insert the cross axle from the left into the side cross holes that are located at the front below the engine hood. Push it all the way in until the cross axle is protruding to the right.

If done correctly, the 2 technic levers are on the left side of the glider, and the cross axle is protruding towards the right.

Find 2 white technic levers 2m.

Flip 1 upright, cross holes running from left to right, and put the lower cross hole on the protruding cross axle. Push it all the way inwards, and also push on the 2 technic levers on the left to create a tight fit.

Flip the other technic lever upright, cross holes running from left to right, and put its lower cross hole on the protruding cross axle.

Make sure the cross axle does not protrude on either side.

Find 2 dark stone grey round bushings 1m with 2 cross axle pins 1m at a right angle.

Hold 1 flat in front of you, round hole running from top to bottom, 1 cross axle pin pointing to the left and the other one pointing to the front.

Insert the pin pointing to the left into the top cross hole of the 2 previous pieces. If done correctly, the round bushing will protrude to the right and the other cross axle pin to the front.

Repeat symmetrically on the left. Make sure that the second cross axle pin is pointing to the front again.

Next, we will build the rear axle of the buggy.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black cross hole bushing 1m with cross axle pin,

and 1 black cross axle 6m.

Hold the cross hole bushing vertically, cross hole running from left to right, cross axle pin pointing to the back.

Hold the cross axle horizontally and insert it from the right into the cross hole. Make sure it is flush on the left side and only protrudes towards the right.

Find 1 black cross hole bushing 1m.

Hold it horizontally, put it on the long cross axle at the front and push it all the way to the already mounted cross hole bushing.

Insert the long cross axle at the front horizontally from the left into the 2 cross holes at the rear of the glider. Make sure that the short cross axle is pointing straight towards the back.

Push this part all the way in until the front cross axle is protruding on the right side.

Find 1 black cross hole bushing 1m.

Put it on the cross axle protruding to the right.

Find 1 black cross axle bushing 1m with cross axle pin.

Hold it vertically, cross axle pin pointing to the back, and put its cross hole on the cross axle pointing to the right.

Find 2 transparent bright green long bent tubes with cross hole.

First turn the glider horizontally, higher part with propulsion on the right, smooth engine hood on the left.

Hold one bent tube so that its ends are bending towards the bottom.

Put its left cross hole on the cross axle pointing to the right at the back edge of the build, tube bending down.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find another 2 transparent bright green long bent tubes with cross hole.

Put 1 on the cross axle pointing to the left on the back edge of the build, tube bending down.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Now, we will build 4 wheel axle mounts.

Collect the following 8 pieces:

4 pale ocher yellow connector pegs 3m with friction ring,

and 4 white technic bushings 1m.

Hold 1 connector peg 3m horizontally, friction ring in the left half of the piece.

Put 1 technic bushing 1m on the right end of the previous piece and push it all the way to the friction ring. If done correctly, the technic bushing is in the middle of the connector peg.

Repeat with the 6 remaining pieces.

Find 4 white t-shaped round bushings with cross axle pin.

Hold 1 vertically, cross axle pin pointing to the back.

Put its round bushing on the left end of one wheel axle mount from the previous step.

If done correctly, the rightmost third of the connector peg 3m is not covered, its left 2/3 are covered with round bushings, and the cross axle pin is pointing to the back on the leftmost edge.

Repeat with the 3 remaining pieces on the 3 other wheel axle mounts.

Put the wheel axle mounts aside for now.

Next, we will assemble the 4 wheels.

Collect the following 8 pieces:

4 medium stone grey wide rims with hole and spokes,

and 4 black wide tires with shallow tread.

Put the rims into the tires.

Put the finished wheels next to each other flat on the table, making sure that the rim sides with spokes are to the bottom, meaning that they are touching the table.

Insert the uncovered third of the connector peg 3m from the top into the rim hole of one wheel, 2/3 with round bushings and cross axle pin protruding to the top.

Repeat with the 3 remaining wheel axles and wheels.

Now, flip 1 wheel upright, spokes towards the back, and insert its cross axle pin into the bent tube on the back left. You might have to turn and adjust the fit of the connector peg in the wheel a bit.

Repeat with the 3 remaining wheels, making sure that the wheels and spokes are facing outwards.

The dune buggy is finished! Fantastic job! It's time to take your cool off-road vehicle for a test drive before you chase after the Grimspawn. Its great maneuverability will help you navigate the difficult terrain of the Nightmare world.
