See how LEGO Mario reacts in real life as you take on this LEGO Super Mario Starter Course! Build your level and help Mario collect coins. Spin on the platform... But don't fall off! Fly on the cloud. Get extra coins and a Super Star with the Question Mark Block. Jump on the Goomba and stomp Bowser Jr. on the back to earn coins. Just like in the original Super Mario console and video games that have been popular since the 1980ies, you can let Super Mario jump and run through all kinds of different courses in various levels of difficulty!

This fantastic Super Mario starter set includes the following modules that you can combine any way you like: 1 Super Mario figure with audio and scanning functions, 1 Bowser Jr. figure, and 1 Goomba figure. It also includes 1 Start Pipe, 1 module with Question Mark Block, Low, Medium and high Hill modules, several decoration elements (a cloud element, flower elements and a tree), 1 Goal Pole, 1 Low Hill on Water module, 1 Lava module with stepping stones, 1 Launching Platform, 1 Castle Base, 1 Castle Tower, 1 Spinning Platform on water, and 1 Cloud Platform. These modules do not have a fixed order. At the end, or whenever you have a few modules finished, you can use the connecting plates of different lengths to build your very own course!

Note that the Super Mario figure needs 2 AAA batteries (not included) to activate the audio and scanning functions. You will need a Philips head screwdriver to insert the batteries. But of course you can also build this set and play with it without batteries.

Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you!

The box contains 1 booklet with a quick start guide and a QR code for the App download, 5 plastic bags with numbers printed on them, 1 unnumbered plastic bag, and a small box with the upper part of the Mario figure. Ask a sighted person to help you find the correct bag! Note: we will build them in the following order: bag 1 plus box plus unnumbered bag, bag 2, bag 4, bag 5, and finally bag 3.

There is an optional LEGO Super Mario App for smart devices that you can use together with this set! Mario is equipped with a bluetooth function to connect to your smart device and the App. However, the App is optional and not necessary to fully enjoy this set. You can play with Mario and use his audio and scanning functions without the App. Please note that the App does not have text or audio support. You might need the help of a sighted person to use it. The App can be used to update the Mario figure and to keep track of coins and other statistics.

Carefully open bag number 1 and the unnumbered plastic bag as well as the small box. These two bags and the box contain all bricks and pieces for the Mario figure. Furthermore, the unnumbered plastic bag also contains some base plates for building modules, as well as connecting plates of different lengths that you will need to connect the different modules once you finish building them.

Before you start building, ask a sighted person to help you sort the pieces by color. This makes finding the correct pieces even easier!

First, we will build the Mario figure.

Continue if you want to insert 2 AAA batteries to activate Mario's additional scanning and audio functions now. If not, skip the next 3 sentences.

Use a Philips head screwdriver to loosen the screw on the back of the Mario figure, and take off the lid of the battery compartment.

Insert 2 AAA batteries into the 2 battery compartment slots. Make sure both knobs of the batteries are pointing to the top towards Mario's head.

Close the battery compartment again and tighten the screw. More about Mario's functions later. Now let's build!

Find 1 bright blue and reddish brown Mario figure bottom with legs and 2 side knobs.

Put it on the table, 2 side knobs pointing to the front.

Find 1 reddish brown and bright red top half of the Mario figure.

Insert it into the figure bottom, nose and moustache to the front.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 bright yellow round tiles 1x1 (they will serve as the buttons of Mario's overalls),

and 2 light nougat brown round tiles 1x1 (they will be the ears). Don't mix the two colors!

Put the 2 light nougat brown round tiles 1x1 on the left and right side knob on Mario's head. These are his ears!

Put the 2 bright yellow round tiles 1x1 on the 2 side knobs pointing to the front. These are the buttons of Mario's overalls!

Find 1 bright red hat 4x5 with brim.

Put it on top of Mario's head, brim to the front.

The Mario figure is finished! Well done! Mario is an Italian plumber living in New York, and he is wearing blue overalls with yellow buttons, a red longsleeved shirt, white gloves, brown shoes, and a red cap with a red "M" in a white circle on the front. He is known for his cheerful smile and his large black moustache. Mario's eyes are actually LED displays showing different expressions, and on his belly there is a small display as well. If Mario is activated, his eyes and the belly display light up according to his mood and to the surface he is standing on.

Continue if you want to activate Mario and hear about his different sounds. If not, skip the next 5 sentences or simply jump to the next section.

If you have inserted batteries already, you can now press the lower of the two buttons on Mario's back.

Mario will welcome you with "LEGO Mario time!". If you make him walk he will make walking sounds and collect coins.

If you make him jump he will make jumping sounds. There are two different sounds for low and high jumps! Sometimes he will even shout "Yipee!".

If you put Mario flat on the table for a while, he will tell you that he's tired and will fall asleep. If you want to turn him off, just press the lower button on his back again. Find out how he says goodbye!

To find out what he does with different colors and function stickers, let's keep building and find out along the way!

Open bag number 2 and the small sub-bag in it. You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Goomba figure, the Start Pipe, and the Goal Pole.

Next, we will build the Goomba figure.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 reddish brown round plate 2x2 with feet,

and 1 dark stone grey brick 1x2x1⅔ with 8 side knobs and 1 smooth side.

Put the round plate with feet on the table, wider ends of the feet to the front.

Put the brick 1x2x1⅔ vertically on the right column, smooth side to the left.

Find 1 dark stone grey brick 1x2x1⅔ with 8 side knobs and 1 smooth side.

Put it vertically to the left of the previous piece, smooth side to the right. This means that the two smooth sides are touching in the middle.

Find 1 dark orange flat tile 2x2. (This piece is printed. Be extra careful not to confuse it with the identical flat tile that has a sticker on it.)

Put it upright on the 4 side knobs pointing to the front.

This piece is printed with the face of the Goomba: the Goomba looks menacing, two of its teeth are sticking out from its lower jaw. It has two big white eyes with black pupils and 2 black curved eyebrows.

Find 2 dark orange plates 1x2.

Put 1 upright horizontally on the 2 lower side knobs that are pointing to the left.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Find 2 dark orange one-stepped curve tiles 2x2x⅔.

Put 1 upright on the previous piece and the 2 knobs above it, curve to the top.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 1 dark orange flat tile 2x2. (Do not confuse it with the identical tile that has a sticker on it.)

Put it upright on the 4 side knobs pointing to the back.

Find 1 dark orange flat tile 2x2 with sticker. (This sticker has a function code on it. You can use it once Mario is activated.)

Put it on top of the Goomba.

The Goomba figure is finished! Well done! He is a grim looking fella that can be dangerous for Mario. The only way to get past a Goomba is to jump on it! An activated Mario will collect a coin every time he manages to jump on the Goomba and get it out of the way!

Next, we will build the Start Pipe.

Find 1 bright green plate 6x6x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet. (In the center and 4 corners of the surface, this piece is smooth, while the rest of the surface is covered with knobs. Do not confuse it with smaller or larger plates that are similar.)

Put it on the table. Make sure the knobs form rows and columns in front of you.

To find out what it sounds like when Mario is walking on grass, turn him on and try it with this green element!

Find 2 bright blue bricks 2x4.

Skip the backmost row which consists of 2 knobs, and mount 1 brick 2x4 horizontally centered.

Put the other one horizontally in front of the previous piece.

If done correctly, there are 2 empty knobs on each side of the 2 bricks: front, back, left and right.

Find 2 bright green flat tiles 1x4.

Put 1 vertically on the rightmost column of the 2 previous pieces.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 bright green flat tiles 1x2,

and 1 bright green flat tile 2x2 with sticker. (This sticker is another function code that you can use once Mario is activated.)

Put 1 flat tile 1x2 horizontally between the 2 previous pieces at the back.

Put the flat tile 2x2 with sticker in front of the previous piece.

Put the other flat tile 1x2 horizontally in front of the previous piece.

Find 1 bright green tube element 6x6.

Put it around the previous pieces. The structure in the middle fits perfectly into the hole of the tube. It connects with the outermost knobs of the base plate.

The Start Pipe is finished! Well done! If an activated Mario jumps into the Pipe, you will hear swallowing sounds and Mario's countdown for the course will start. As the name suggests, the Start Pipe is a good starting point for any course you build!

Next, let's build the Goal Pole.

Find 1 bright green plate 6x6x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table. Make sure the knobs form straight rows and columns again.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark orange brick 2x2 with 4 side grooves and cross hole,

and 1 black flat tile 2x2 with sticker. (This sticker is again a function code sticker.)

Put the flat tile 2x2 on the 4 middle knobs at the frontmost edge.

Put the brick 2x2 on the 4 middle knobs at the backmost edge.

Find 1 maroon red round tile 2x2 with middle hole.

Put it on top of the previous piece.

Find 1 medium stone grey outer cable 16m. (This means that this piece is 16 knobs long.)

Insert it upright into the hole of the previous piece. Push it down firmly into the hole of the brick with side grooves.

Now, let's make the tip of the goal pole.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellow round plate 1x1 with through-hole,

and 1 flame yellowish orange technic ball 1m with hole.

Put the round plate 1x1 on the table. Make sure the knob (which is the narrow end of the piece) is at the top.

Put the technic ball on top.

Now, insert the shaft of the goal pole from the bottom into the tip that you have just built.

Find 1 black flat tile 2x3 with 2 vertical clasps on short side. (This piece is printed.)

Snap the 2 clasps onto the goal pole from the right just beneath the tip.

This piece is printed with a white Bowser Jr. face.

The Goal Pole is finished! Well done! This module is the perfect finish area for your courses. When Mario jumps on the function code sticker, you will hear the triumphant finishing melody.

Next, we will build 2 decorative flowers.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 dark green plants with plate 1x1,

1 bright purple decoration flower with small shaft,

and 1 flame yellowish orange decoration flower with small shaft.

Put the 2 plants 1x1 on the table.

Insert the shafts of the flowers into the knobs of the plants.

The decorative flowers are finished! Well done! You can add them to different modules of the Mario course as you like. Try jumping on the yellow flower with an activated Mario - you will hear the sound that Mario makes when he is walking on sand! This set does not have any sand elements, but some extension sets do!

If you want, you can try to build your first course now. Start with the Start Pipe, mount a green connecting plate (for instance a plate 2x12) underneath, place the Goomba in the middle of the connecting plate, and mount the Goal Pole module on the other end of the connecting plate. Activate Mario, jump into the Start Pipe, run on the grass, jump on the Goomba, and finish on the function code sticker in front of the Goal Pole!

Open bag number 4 (don't worry, you haven't missed bag number 3. We will use it at the end!) . You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the module with Question Mark Block, as well as the Low, Medium and high Hill modules.

Next, we will build the module with Question Mark Block.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 reddish brown plate 2x6,

and 1 dark orange profile brick 1x2 with brick carvings.

Put the plate 2x6 horizontally on the table.

Put the profile brick 1x2 horizontally on the back row, starting from the right edge. Make sure the single horizontal carving is to the front, and the actual brick carvings are to the back.

Find 1 dark orange profile brick 1x2 with brick carvings.

Mount it symmetrically on the left edge of the back row, brick carvings to the back.

Find 2 dark orange profile bricks 1x2 with brick carvings.

Put 1 horizontally in front of the previous piece, brick carvings to the front.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Find 2 dark orange plates 2x2 with 1 knob.

Put 1 on the four rightmost knobs.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Next, we build the stand for the module with Question Mark Block.

Find 1 medium stone grey round plate 2x2.

Put it on the table.

Find 2 transparent wall elements 1x2x3 with 2 top knobs.

Put 1 vertically on the right column, panel to the left.

Put the other one vertically on the left column, panel to the right. This means the 2 panels touch in the middle.

The stand is finished! Mount the Block structure (the plate 2x6 with 2 blocks) horizontally centered on top of the stand.

Next, we will build the Question Mark Block.

Find 1 bright yellow round plate 2x2.

Put it on the table.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellow flat tile 2x2 with sticker (this is another function code sticker),

and 1 bright yellow brick 2x2. (This piece is printed on two sides.)

Put the brick 2x2 on the previous piece.

Two of its side surfaces are printed with a white question mark outlined in black and 4 brown nails.

Put the flat tile with sticker on top.

The Question Mark Block is finished! Well done! Put it in the middle of the Block structure, side prints to the front and back. The Question Mark Block is a bit higher than the 2 normal blocks on its sides so that Mario can land on it.

The module with Question Mark Block is finished! Well done! When an activated Mario jumps on the Question Mark Block, you are in for a surprise. He might just get a few more coins which are always handy! But he might get a Super Star in which case he will be immune to any dangers as long as you can hear the melody! He might even get a mushroom which will make him grow. Try it and find out!

Next, we will build the Low Hill module.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet. (This plate only has knobs on the edges, the center is smooth.)

Put it on the table. Make sure the knobs form rows and columns in front of you.

Find 4 medium nougat brown bricks 1x2.

Put 1 horizontally centered on the back row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically centered on the right column.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

If done correctly, there is 1 empty knob on each corner of the base plate.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on top. Its feet will fit neatly between the 4 bricks.

The Low Hill module is finished! Great job! Use it as an obstacle for great jumps in your course.

Next, we will build the Medium Hill module.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table.

Find 4 medium nougat brown bricks 1x2.

Arrange them just like on the low hill module: put 1 horizontally centered on the back row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically centered on the right column.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 1 medium nougat brown brick 2x4.

Put it vertically on the 2 middle columns.

Find 2 medium nougat brown bricks 1x2.

Put them vertically centered to the left and right of the previous piece.

Find 4 medium nougat brown bricks 1x2.

Put 2 vertically on the 2 previous pieces.

Put 1 horizontally centered on the backmost row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on top. The feet again fit perfectly between the bricks.

The Medium Hill module is finished! Good work! You can also use it as an obstacle.

Now, we will build the High Hill module.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table.

Find 4 medium nougat brown bricks 1x2x5.

Put 1 horizontally centered on the back row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically centered on the right column.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on top. Its feet again fit perfectly between the bricks.

The High Hill module is finished! Good job! Use it in your course however you lik!

Next up, we will build the decorative tree.

Find 1 reddish brown flagpole 1x1x3.

Put it on the table.

Find 2 medium nougat brown round bricks 1x1.

Put 1 on the flagpole by inserting the flagpole into the bottom of the round brick. Make sure that the brick's narrow end with knob is at the top.

Put the other round brick on top, narrow end to the top.

Make sure to slide both round bricks down on the flagpole.

Find 1 bright yellowish green inverted dome 2x2 with 1 knob. (This piece has a round hollow opening. Do not confuse it with the normal dome 2x2.)

Insert the flagpole into the knob from the bottom. Make sure the dome opens towards the top. Push it down firmly until it touches the round brick 1x1.

Find 1 bright yellowish green round brick 2x2 with top cross hole.

Put it on top of the previous piece.

Find 1 bright yellowish green dome 2x2 with 1 knob.

Put it on top.

The decorative tree is finished! Well done! You can add it to any module you like. Maybe not the lava though.

Now, let's make the decorative cloud element.

Find 1 reddish brown round plate 1x1 with through-hole.

Put it on the table. Make sure the narrow end with knob is to the top.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark green plant with plate 1x1,

and 1 bright yellow round plate 1x1 with through-hole.

Put the plant 1x1 on top of the previous piece.

Put the round plate 1x1 on top.

Find 1 transparent shaft 12m with plate 1x2 and knob. (This piece is 12 knobs long.)

Insert the shaft end top to bottom into the three previous pieces. Now this structure will be very wobbly and won't stand on its own. You can also put it flat on the table, it's almost done.

Find 1 white cloud-shaped plate 3x5 with 3 knobs.

Put it horizontally centered on the plate 1x2 at the top of the pole.

The decorative cloud element is finished! Great job! You can add it to modules as you like.

Now, we build the Low Hill on Water module.

Find 1 bright blue plate 6x6x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table. Make sure that the knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you.

Find 4 medium nougat brown bricks 1x2.

Put 1 horizontally centered on the second row from the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically on the second column from the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 1 bright green plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on top of the 4 previous pieces.

The Low Hill on Water module is finished! Great job! Use it in your course as a place for Mario to rest in the water. If you later use blue connecting plates, Mario will have to swim to get to the low hill!

Open bag number 5 and the small sub-bag in it. You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Lava module with stepping stones, the Launching Platform, the Castle Base, the Castle Tower, and the Bowser Jr. figure.

Now, we will build the Lava module with stepping stones.

Find 1 bright red plate 8x8x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet. (This plate has a smooth 2x2 patch in its center and 4 smooth diagonal lines near the 4 corners. Do not confuse it with smaller plates that are similar, and for the correct sound effects, make sure you use the red one.)

Put it on the table. Make sure the knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you.

Find 2 medium stone grey round plates 2x2.

You can choose to build the 2 stepping stones anywhere on the base plate. In the next 3 sentences we will describe the intended locations which might be a bit tricky to find.

First, identify the 2 middle rows running from the left edge towards the middle.

Skip the leftmost column, and mount 1 round plate on the front row of those 2 middle rows and the 1 knob in front of it.

Repeat symmetrically at the right back: identify the 2 middle rows running from the right to the center. Skip the rightmost column, and mount the other round plate on the back row of those 2 middle rows and the 1 knob behind it.

Find 2 medium stone grey round tiles 2x2.

Put them on top of the two previous pieces.

The Lava module with stepping stones is finished! Well done! Careful! If Mario jumps on the lava he will scream and you will hear a sizzling sound! The longer you leave him, the more dangerous it gets for him! He will make a sigh of relief once you get him to safety.

Next, we build the Launching Platform. It can be used like a catapult to launch off other elements such as the castle tower or Bowser Jr. etc.

Find 1 bright green plate 8x8x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table. Make sure that the knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you.

Find 1 black plate 2x4 with lateral top tube and 4 knobs.

Put it horizontally on the 2 middle rows, starting from the right edge, top tube to the right and back.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 medium stone grey connector peg 2m with middle ring (this piece is 2 knobs long) ,

and 1 medium stone grey round tile 2x2.

Put the round tile 2x2 on the 4 knobs of the previous piece.

Insert the connector peg front to back into the top tube at the right edge.

Find 2 dark green roof tiles 2x3, 25°.

First, identify the plate 2x4 with top tube. The roof tiles will be mounted horizontally to its left.

Turn 1 roof tile horizontally, slope to the right. Mount it to the left of said round tile 2x2, but make sure to move it back 1 row. This means that the front row of the roof tile touches the plate 2x4 with top tube, but its back row does not.

Put the other roof tile in front of the previous piece in the same orientation.

If done correctly, both roof tiles symmetrically touch the plate 2x4 with top tube in the middle. To the left of the roof tiles is 1 empty column, and to the front and back of the roof tiles are 2 empty rows each.

Find 1 medium stone grey plate 2x4 with lateral side tube and 6 knobs.

Hold it so that the side tube is on the right and the knobs are to the top.

Put the side tube front to back onto the connector peg on the right edge. This piece can now be moved up and down. For now, put it flat on the structure on top of the round tile 2x2.

Find 2 dark green roof tiles 1x3, 25°.

Put 1 vertically behind the left edge of the previous piece, slope to the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 medium stone grey plate 1x4 with 2 knobs,

and 2 medium stone grey round tiles 1x1.

Put the 2 round tiles 1x1 on top of the two previous pieces.

Put the plate 1x4 vertically on the second column from the left, on top of the 2 roof tiles 2x3.

Now, we will build the launching board.

Find 1 reddish brown plate 2x6.

Put it horizontally on the table.

Find 2 reddish brown flat tiles 1x6.

Put 1 horizontally on the back row of the previous piece.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Mount the launching board horizontally on the 6 knobs of the plate 2x4 with side tube, flush on the left edge, 2 columns overhanging to the right.

The Launching Platform is finished! Well done! To test it, place one of the Hill modules on the 2 top knobs and the launching board, but don't let the knobs fully engage. Then let Mario jump on the right edge of the launching board and the hill element will come flying right off! You can later repeat this with the Castle Tower, Bowser Jr. , and other elements.

Next, we will build the Castle Base.

Find 1 bright green plate 8x8x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table.

Find 4 dark orange bricks 1x2x3.

Put 1 horizontally centered on the second row from the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically on the second column from the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 1 dark orange plate 6x6x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on top of the 4 previous pieces. Its feet fit neatly between the 4 bricks.

Find 4 maroon red profile bricks 1x2 with brick carvings.

Put 1 horizontally on the backmost row of the previous piece, brick carvings to the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically on the rightmost column of the high base plate, brick carvings to the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 8 mud grey smooth roof tiles 1x1x⅔.

Put 1 on the back knob of the previous piece, slope to the back.

Put another one in front of the previous piece, slope to the front.

If done correctly, these two pieces now form a sloped surface that looks like a small roof. These are the battlements of your castle base.

Repeat symmetrically with the remaining 6 roof tiles on the other 3 bricks with brick carvings.

The Castle Base is finished! Well done! Add it to your course as you wish. You can later mount the castle tower on top, or let Bowser Jr. wait here for Mario!

Next, we will build the Castle Tower.

Find 1 dark orange plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table.

Find 4 dark orange bricks 1x2x3.

Put 1 horizontally centered on the back row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically centered on the right column.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 1 dark orange plate 6x6x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on top. Its four feet will fit neatly between the 4 bricks.

Find 4 maroon red profile bricks 1x2 with brick carvings.

Put 1 horizontally on the backmost row, brick carvings to the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put 1 vertically on the rightmost column, brick carvings to the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 8 mud grey smooth roof tiles 1x1x⅔.

Use them to form battlements again: Put 1 on the back knob of the previous piece, slope to the back.

Put another one in front of the previous piece, slope to the front.

Repeat symmetrically with the remaining 6 roof tiles on the other 3 bricks with brick carvings.

The Castle Tower is finished! Well done! You can either mount it on top of the catapult, the castle base, or use it as an independent module in your Mario course.

Next, we will build the Bowser Jr. figure.

Find 1 bright yellow plate 2x3x⅔ with rounded corners and 2 feet.

Put it horizontally on the table, wide end to the front.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 medium stone grey round plate 1x1,

and 1 white brick 1x1x1⅔ with 2 side knobs.

Put the round plate 1x1 on the middle knob of the back row.

Put the brick 1x1x1⅔ on top of the previous piece, side knobs to the back.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright blue brick 1x1x1⅔ with 2 side knobs,

and 1 medium stone grey round plate 1x1.

Put the brick 1x1x1⅔ in front of the previous piece, side knobs to the front.

Put the round plate 1x1 on top of the previous piece.

Find 2 bright yellow bricks 1x2.

Put 1 vertically on the leftmost column.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Find 2 bright yellow bricks 1x2 with technic hole.

Put 1 vertically on top of the previous piece.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 2 bright yellow bent arms with connector peg.

Insert the connector pegs into the side holes of the 2 previous pieces.

Find 1 bright yellowish green brick 1x3. (Do not confuse this piece with the identical brick 1x3 with side print.)

Put it horizontally on the back row.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 pale ocher yellow bricks 1x1 with 1 front and 1 side knob,

and 1 bright yellowish green brick 1x1.

Put 1 brick 1x1 with side knobs on the rightmost knob of the front row, side knobs pointing to the right and to the front.

Put the brick 1x1 to the left of the previous piece. If you cannot place the element on said location, you may have placed the previous piece incorrectly. Pay good attention to the orientation of the side knobs.

Put the other brick 1x1 with side knobs to the left of the previous piece, side knobs pointing to the left and to the front.

Find 2 pale ocher yellow quarter-circle tiles 1x1.

Mount it upright on the side knob pointing to the right. The corner of the quarter-circle tile and the corner of the brick should align perfectly.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green brick 1x1,

and 2 bright yellowish green bricks 1x1 with side knob and bottom foot.

Put 1 brick 1x1 with side knob and bottom foot on the rightmost knob of the back row, side knob and foot to the right.

Put the brick 1x1 to the left of the previous piece.

Put the other brick 1x1 with side knob and bottom foot to the left of the previous piece, side knob and foot to the left.

Find 2 pale ocher yellow pyramid-shaped tiles 1x1x⅔.

Put 1 upright on the side knob of the previous piece.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Find 1 pale ocher yellow plate 1x3.

Put it horizontally on the front row.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green plate 1x3,

and 1 bright yellowish green brick 1x3. (This piece is printed.)

Put the plate 1x3 horizontally on the back row.

Put the brick 1x3 horizontally on the front row, print to the front.

This piece is printed with Bowser Jr.'s two grim black eyes and two bushy red eyebrows.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 pale ocher yellow tile 2x4 with round corners (this piece is printed),

and 1 bright yellow flat tile 2x3. (This piece is printed.)

Put the flat tile 2x3 upright horizontally on the 2 bottom side knobs on the front surface.

It is printed with Bowser Jr.'s bib: it is white and there is a monstrous mouth with red lips and pointy teeth on it.

Put the tile 2x4 with round corners upright horizontally on the side knobs above the previous piece.

This piece is printed with Bowser Jr.'s mouth: he is laughing, you can see his red tongue and one white tooth in his mouth. On top of that, two small brown dots form his nose.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green plate 1x2 with 1 knob,

and 1 medium stone grey round plate 1x1.

Put the plate 1x2 vertically on the middle column on top of the figure.

Put the round plate 1x1 on top of the previous piece.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 bright yellowish green flat tiles 1x2,

and 1 bright red smooth roof tile 1x1x⅔.

Put the flat tiles vertically to the left and right of the previous piece.

Put the roof tile 1x1x⅔ on the last knob on top of Bowser Jr.'s head, slope to the front.

Find 1 white plate 2x4.

Put it upright vertically on the 2 side knobs pointing to the back. Make sure the plate is aligned with the bottom edge of the figure.

Next up, we make Bowser Jr.'s shell.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white and dark green shell base 4x4,

and 1 dark green flat tile 2x2 with sticker.

Put the shell base 4x4 on the table.

Put the flat tile 2x2 on the 4 knobs in the middle.

Now, mount Bowser Jr.'s shell upright on the side knobs at the back. The shape at the bottom of the shell fits perfectly around the plate 2x4. If the shell doesn't fit, you may need to rotate it left or right.

The Bowser Jr. figure is finished! Excellent work! Bowser Jr. is the boss of your Super Mario course. But be careful: mario can only defeat him if he jumps on Bowser Jr.'s shell! And beware, one jump is not enough to defeat him! Find out what happens if you jump on Bowser Jr.'s head.

Open bag number 3 and the small sub-bag in it. You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Spinning Platform on water, and the Cloud Platform.

Now, we will build the Spinning Platform on water.

Find 1 bright blue plate 8x8x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet.

Put it on the table. Make sure the knobs form straight rows and columns in front of you.

Find 1 black plate 4x4 with gear ring and middle hole.

Put it in the center of the previous piece.

Find 1 dark stone grey round plate 4x4 with middle hole.

Firmly snap it on the gear ring of the previous piece. Make sure you hear a "click" sound. If mounted correctly, you can spin the round plate. Turn it so that it forms straight columns and rows in front of you.

Find 1 dark stone grey brick 1x2x2.

Put it horizontally on the backmost 2 knobs of the previous piece.

Find 2 dark stone grey bricks 2x4.

Put 1 horizontally centered in front of the previous piece.

Put the other one horizontally on top of the previous piece.

Find 1 dark stone grey brick 1x2x2.

Put it horizontally in front of the 2 previous pieces.

Next, we will build the spinning arm.

Find 1 reddish brown plate 2x14.

Put it horizontally on the table.

Find 1 flame yellowish orange flat tile 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and sticker. (The sticker again has a function code on it.)

Put it centered on the left edge. This means it will connect with the 8 leftmost knobs.

Find 2 reddish brown flat tiles 1x3.

Put 1 horizontally to the right of the previous piece on the back row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find 2 medium stone grey one-stepped curve tiles 2x2x⅔.

Put 1 to the right of the previous piece on the front row, curve to the front, 1 row overhanging to the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back.

The spinning arm is finished! Great job! Mount it on top of the platform base. Make sure to align the cross-like shapes of spinning arm and platform base.

The Spinning Platform on water is finished! Well done! This is a particularly tricky obstacle. Make sure to stand on the function code sticker to hear the suspenseful music. If Mario falls off while spinning, he will fall into the water which means he has to go back to the start. The more rotations you manage, the more coins Mario will collect!

Next up, we will build the Cloud Platform.

Find 1 white plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners and 4 feet. (Careful: do not confuse it with the identical plate with sticker in the center. We will need that later.)

Put it upside down on the table. This means that the knobs touch the table.

Find 1 white plate 2x4.

Mount it vertically in the middle of the plate.

Find 2 white plates 1x2.

Put 1 vertically centered on the rightmost column. It fits perfectly between the 2 feet on the right side.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 4 white inverted curve disks 2x2.

Put them in the 4 corners. The disks will align perfectly with the rounded corners of the base plate. They will cover the entire surface.

Find 2 white cloud-shaped plates 3x5 with 3 knobs.

First, flip the structure right side up again.

Put 1 horizontally on the 2 backmost rows, left cloud bump overhanging to the left, and 1 row overhanging to the back.

Put the other 1 horizontally on the 2 frontmost rows, right cloud bump overhanging to the right, and 1 row overhanging to the front.

Find 2 white plates 1x2.

Put 1 horizontally on the 2 left knobs of the previous piece. The rightmost knob of the cloud remains empty.

Put the other one horizontally on the cloud at the back, leaving its leftmost knob empty.

Now, we will build the arm of the Cloud Platform.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white plate 4x4x⅔ with rounded corners, 4 feet and sticker,

and 1 white plate 1x2.

Put the plate 4x4x⅔ upside down on the table.

Put the plate 1x2 vertically centered on the leftmost column.

Find 1 medium stone grey plate 2x10.

Put it horizontally centered to the right of the previous piece, 7 columns overhanging to the right.

Find 1 medium stone grey round tile 2x2.

First, flip the structure right side up again. Make sure the 7 overhanging columns are pointing to the right.

Put the round tile on the 4 rightmost knobs.

The arm of the Cloud Platform is finished! Mount its large square centered on top of the base of the cloud platform, arm to the right. The 2 horizontal gaps at the bottom of the plate with rounded corners attach to the 2 plates 1x2 on the base of the Cloud Platform.

The Cloud platform is finished! Great job! This is a special module: you can use it to let Mario fly in the air! Mount him on the knobs of the cloud so that he stands right above the sticker. Hold it by the arm and let Mario fly through the air on this cloud! He will collect coins and arrive safely at his next location!

You have finished building all modules and elements of the Super Mario Adventure Starter Course set! Now it is time to connect the modules to create a challenging course for Mario. Use the remaining plates of different lengths, sizes, and colors to connect the modules. Mario himself will serve as the color scanner! Remember: red is lava, so Mario will burn if he stays there for too long, blue is water, so Mario needs to swim, and green is grass, so Mario can walk safely on it. Once you have a course, Mario can go on his adventure! If you start with the Start Pipe, a timer of 60 seconds will start. This means that from this moment on, Mario has 60 seconds to collect coins and finish the course of your choice. When he is running out of time, you will hear a warning sound and the music will become even faster.
