LEGO 60443 F1 Pit Stop & Pit Crew with Ferrari Car

LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO City set "F1 Pit Stop & Pit Crew with Ferrari Car".

If you would like to access the help menu to find out how to use and navigate these instructions, tap with two fingers or press key "H".

Gear up for high-speed action at the Formula 1 Ferrari pit stop! Rally the pit crew and call in the Ferrari driver for a lightning-speed service. Check the engine, release the fresh slicks and spin those wheel guns for a turbocharged tire change. Then, blast out of the pit and back into the race for a record-breaking lap! Get ready for awesome Formula 1 pit stop adventures in LEGO City!

The box cover shows the pit stop in full action. The fire red Ferrari Formula 1 car is parked in the pit box at the side of the race track, nose to the left. The vehicle's tires are smoking! It has either just arrived in the box, and the tires are smoking from racing at top speeds, or it's about to take off and rejoin the race. Either way, there is no high-speed place like a Formula 1 race! Further proof of this are the many faded skid marks around the pit stop. Vehicles only know one speed on the F1 racing tracks: full speed! There are yellow road markings on the asphalt, indicating the main area of the pit box. The pit box itself is in the Ferrari colors: bright red and black. The parking area is slightly elevated so that the mechanics have better access to the car when changing tires or repairing the car. There is a wheel rack with 2 holders at the front for quick tire changes; it holds 4 spare tires in total. One mechanic is in the process of fetching a tire from the tire changer, wheel gun at the ready. Another mechanic is hoisting a tire at the rear end of the car. The other two mechanics are located at the car front, overseeing the situation. The driver is in the driver's seat, protected by the so-called halo, the crash-protection bar. He's waving happily, it seems like things are going well! The U-shaped gantry is hovering above the car. It holds all kinds of hoses and cables in place, making sure nothing gets in the way of the car or the mechanics. There are lots of monitors facing the pit box, showing data, statistics and all kinds of race-relevant numbers. The action-packed box cover has plenty of other details for you, but let's find those out while building. Let's get started!

Open the box. It contains 2 booklets with visual building instructions, 3 numbered bags, 1 sheet with 8 stickers, and 1 loose piece: 1 plate 8x16x⅔ with 7 cutouts. We will refer to the bag numbers to guide you through the building process. Please ask a sighted person to help you identify the correct bags!

The sticker sheet has 8 stickers. Some of them have identical shapes, so if you would like to find and attach the stickers yourself, put the sticker sheet vertically in front of you. Try to feel the outlines of the stickers and search for the 2 largest stickers in the set (they are 2 identical stickers 3x4 that are directly next to each other). Turn the sheet so that these 2 stickers are on the left edge in the back corner. You can also ask a sighted person to orientate the sticker sheet such that the bold red line is on the left edge. Alternatively, you can ask a sighted person for help whenever you are asked to attach a sticker, or you can also simply skip attaching stickers for now if you prefer.

Carefully open bag number 1 and any small sub-bags in it. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Ferrari Driver Minifigure and the Ferrari Car.

If you like, you can ask a sighted person to sort the pieces by color before you start building. We recommend using trays or bowls. This can make finding the correct pieces easier! However, if you would like to build without brick colors entirely, you can also ignore them or turn them off. There are different ways to sort and organize the bricks and your building process. It is up to you!

First, we will build the Ferrari Driver Minifigure.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright red pair of legs,

and 1 bright red upper part of the body.

Put the upper body on the legs. Make sure that the hands and toes are pointing in the same direction.

Find 1 bright yellow Minifigure head.

Put it on the body.

Next, we will build the safety helmet.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 transparent helmet visor,

and 1 bright red safety helmet with chin strap.

Snap the visor on the helmet. The inner surfaces of the visor ends have tiny nubs that fit into 2 tiny holes in the helmet opening.

The safety helmet is finished! Well done! It is printed with the Ferrari logo: it is a bright yellow shield-shaped emblem featuring a black horse that is rearing up. Along the top of the shield, there are three horizontal stripes: green, white, and red. This is a horizontal version of the Italian flag since Ferrari is an Italian brand! This logo will be featured on several items in this set.

Put the helmet on the head, ensuring the visor is facing forward.

The Ferrari driver Minifigure is finished! Well done! He is wearing the Ferrari racing suit: it is a bright red suit with 2 thin stripes at the bottom hem of the jacket as well as on the shoulder seams - one white and one yellow stripe each. The Ferrari logo is sewn on the top left corner of the chest area.

Put the bright red curve tile 1x2 upright horizontally to the left of the previous piece, curve to the left.

Put the black curve tile 1x2 upright horizontally to the left of the previous piece, curve to the left.

Now, we will build the crash-protection bar. In F1 cars, this is called the halo.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 bright red small tubes 1m with side handle,

and 1 black hose 11m.

Hold the hose horizontally and put one small tube on its left end and the other small tube on its right end. Make sure that the side handles have roughly the same orientation and insert the hose securely so it doesn't pop out of the tubes.

To mount the crash-protection bar, carefully bend it so that the 2 tubes with side handles are pointing to the bottom. Snap the side handles into the 2 clasps that are pointing to the top. You might have to adjust the small tubes a bit so the side handles fit into the clasps. Make sure the hose doesn't pop out.

Now, you can bend the crash-protection bar down towards the left. It will protect the driver in the event of a crash!

Now, we will assemble the 4 wheels.

We will start with 1 wheel and assemble the remaining 3 after that, but you can build all 4 wheels at once if you like.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black high-gloss racing tire with low profile,

and 1 black round tile 2x2 with middle hole. (This piece is printed.)

Put the tire flat on the table.

Put the round tile 2x2 centered on top. If it does not attach to the wheel, flip the wheel upside down and try it on the other side.

The round tile 2x2 is printed with 2 red circles, one framing its outer circumference and the other one framing the inner circumference, as well as 2 red bent rectangles along the outer circle.

To build the remaining 3 wheels, find another 3 black high-gloss racing tires with low profile and another 3 black round tiles 2x2 with middle hole. Assemble them like the first wheel.

Mount the 4 wheels on the 4 connectors pointing to the front and back on the vehicle structure. Make sure the printed round tiles are facing outwards.

The Ferrari Car is finished! Well done! Fold the crash-protection bar up, put your Driver Minifigure in the driver's seat and take your racing vehicle for a test drive!

With this, we have finished building everything from bag 1. Well done! We usually pack a few extra pieces in each bag, so if you still have some pieces left there is no need to worry that you forgot something. If you like, you can take a break now and return later by skipping to the section introducing bag 2. If you want to continue building right away, simply move on to the next sentence.

Open bag number 2. You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the first two Pit Box Mechanic Minifigures, and the basic framework for the pit box.

Now, we will build the first Pit Box Mechanic Minifigure.

Note that the parts of the four Mechanic Minifigures are completely identical with the exception of the face prints on the four Minifigure heads. We will describe the prints as usual. Put its 2x2 part on top of the previous piece and the row behind it, making sure that the side plate 1x2 is oriented vertically, its knobs pointing to the left.

The right arm of the pit stop mechanism is finished! Great job! Mount its round plate 4x4 centered on the turntable socket in the right half of the main structure, arm extending towards the right.

Next, we will build the connecting beam of the right arm.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 medium stone grey technic beam 9m,

and 1 white connector peg 1m with knob.

Put the technic beam horizontally on the table, holes running from top to bottom.

Insert the connector peg from the top into the middle hole, its knob protruding towards the top. Counted from either side, it is the fifth hole.

Find 1 black shaft 2m with middle stop.

Insert one end into the previous piece, middle stop with top half protruding to the top.

Find 1 black square sign 2x2 with clasp.

Snap its clasp on the top half of the previous piece, smooth side towards you.

Continue if you want to decorate this piece with a sticker now. If not, skip the next 3 sentences.

Find 1 square sticker 2x2. (This is sticker number 1. On the sticker sheet, it is the backmost sticker of the right column of stickers. If you are unsure, you can ask a sighted person for help.)

Attach the sticker on the smooth surface of the sign 2x2.

This sticker is another blue pit stop monitor. It has a column of six black dots on its left edge. A horizontal graph line starts from each of those dots. The line at the bottom is straight, all the other lines are squiggly and at times cross each other, changing their horizontal positioning. These graph lines might indicate the starting and current positions of the different cars or other relevant data pertaining to the race.

The connecting beam of the right arm is finished! Well done! Put its rightmost hole on the connector peg of the right arm and the leftmost hole on the corresponding connector peg on the middle gantry. Make sure the monitor is facing forward.

Next, we will build the wheel rack.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 beige cross axle 4m with asymmetric stop,

and 1 dark stone grey shaft 2m with hanging cross bushing 1x1.

Hold the shaft with cross bushing so that the shaft is towards the bottom, pointing to the front and back, and the cross bushing is at the top, cross hole running from left to right.

Insert the shorter end of the cross axle from the left into the cross bushing, 3/4 protruding to the left.

Put this part aside for now.

Find another beige cross axle 4m with asymmetric stop and another dark stone grey shaft 2m with hanging cross bushing 1x1.

Hold the shaft element like before: the shaft part at the bottom, pointing to the front and back, and the cross bushing at the top, cross hole running from left to right.

This time, insert the short end of the cross axle from the right into the cross bushing, 3/4 protruding to the right.

Now, snap the shaft of the piece you have just built into the 2 right clasps on the base of the wheel rack, cross axle pointing to the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left, cross axle pointing to the left.

Next, we will assemble 4 spare wheels.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black high-gloss racing tire with low profile,

and 1 black round tile 2x2 with middle hole.

Put the round tile on one side of the tire. Like before, if you cannot attach it to one side of the wheel, try attaching it to the wheel's other side surface.

Find another 3 black high-gloss racing tires with low profile and another 3 black round tiles 2x2 with middle hole.

Assemble the 3 remaining wheels like the first one.

The 4 spare wheels are finished! Fold the cross axles of the wheel rack up and put 2 wheels on the left wheel rack and the other 2 on the right wheel rack. Fold the cross axles down again to lock the wheels in place.

Now it's time to get your crew in position: put 1 pit crew member with wheel gun on the right arm of the pit stop mechanism. You can secure the back of the Minifigure legs on the 2 side knobs pointing to the left that are located on the right end of the right arm.

Mount the other pit crew member with wheel gun symmetrically on the left arm.

Place the 2 remaining crew members to the left and right of the middle gantry. Their wheel guns are waiting for them in the holders at the front edge of the middle gantry.

The Pit Box is finished! Well done! And with this, you have finished building the entire set! Fantastic job! Now, all you need to do is wait for the car to enter the pit box. Once it has arrived, pull on the lever at the back to swing the 2 side arms in front of and behind the car and lock the car in place. All members of the pit crew can simultaneously start working on the car. Don't forget to start the pit stop timer! And as soon as everything is done, push the lever to the front again to swing the side arms out and make way for the car to continue the race.

Enjoy!
