LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO City Fire set "Fire Rescue Helicopter".

Buckle up for thrilling firefighting missions with the LEGO City Fire Rescue Helicopter! Grab your fire helmet and sky-scout binoculars from the storage compartment, hop into the cockpit and spin the rotors to take to the air. Reach rescue scenes in record time and activate the powerful water launchers to knock out flames in a splash! Fun firefighting missions await in LEGO City.

On the box cover, the fire rescue helicopter is in full action: in the outskirts of LEGO City, some bushes have caught fire! It is of utmost importance that the fire does not spread into the town. The first responder taking care of emergencies like that is airborne! The helicopter is soaring in midair, rotor blades spinning, and shooting water from the water tanks to contain the fire. You can recognize the helicopter from afar with its characteristic red and black design and the tail rudder prominently featuring the fire brigade logo. Not to worry though: the firefighter seated in the cockpit has everything under control, the fire is in professional hands. The sky in the background of the scene is tinted orange from the flames. Luckily, the city's skyline in the back is not affected by the fire yet, thanks to the indispensable work of the LEGO City fire brigade. Let's join them and start building!

Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you!

The box contains 1 booklet with visual building instructions, 2 unnumbered bags, and 2 loose pieces: a plate 2x16 and a helicopter undercarriage.

Carefully open all bags.

Before you start building, ask a sighted person to help you sort the pieces by color. This makes finding the correct pieces even easier!

First, we will build the Firefighter Minifigure.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black and dark stone grey upper part of the body,

and 1 black pair of legs.

Put the upper body on the legs.

Find 1 bright yellow Minifigure head.

Put it on the body.

Next, we will assemble the fire helmet.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 vibrant yellow helmet without chin strap,

and 1 transparent pair of bulging helmet goggles.

Snap the goggles into the helmet opening. To do that, use the tiny nubs on the inside of the goggle ends and the tiny indentations on the helmet.

Well done! Put the helmet on the head.

Find 1 medium stone grey pair of Minifigure binoculars.

Snap them into one of the Minifigure's hands.

Find 1 pale ocher yellow hairpiece with short hair and side fringe.

Whenever the firefighter is not in action, you can exchange the helmet for the hair. Your choice!

The firefighter Minifigure is finished! Well done! The look on the firefighter's face is fierce: it seems like they are not afraid of their job! The firefighter's uniform is dark grey with neon green reflective stripes on knees and chest. The firefighter is wearing a brown harness equipped with a trigger hook and a gauge.

Now, let's assemble a seat of fire.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 transparent bright orange inverted curve disk 2x2 with 4 knobs,

and 2 transparent bright orange flames with 5 fire tongues.

Put the inverted curve disk on the table, curve to the bottom.

Insert the small shaft at the bottom of 1 flame into one of the 4 knobs.

Insert the other flame in the knob diagonally opposite of the first flame.

Next, we will build the firefighter helicopter.

We will start with the body of the helicopter. The tail and the undercarriage will follow later.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark stone grey inverted wedge brick 4x6 with three curves,

and 1 white plate 2x8.

Put the inverted wedge brick horizontally on the table, narrow end to the right.

Put the plate 2x8 horizontally on the 2 recessed rows in the middle, 4 columns overhanging to the left.

Find another dark stone grey inverted wedge brick 4x6 with three curves.

Put it horizontally underneath the left half of the previous piece, narrow end to the left.

Find 1 black plate 4x4.

Flip the helicopter body upside down while keeping its horizontal orientation.

Put the plate 4x4 centered on the structure, symmetrically overhanging to the front and back.

Find 2 medium stone grey top angle plates 1x2 - 1x4 with 4 side knobs.

Now, flip the structure right side up again. Keep its horizontal orientation.

Put 1 angle plate horizontally centered on the frontmost row, 4 side knobs to the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back, 4 side knobs to the back.

Find 4 vibrant yellow plates 1x2.

Put 1 horizontally to the left of the previous piece, and another one to the right of the previous piece.

Note that these plates only connect to 1 knob each.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find 2 vibrant yellow trapezoid plates 3x4 with cut-out.

Put 1 horizontally on the left edge, cut-out to the right. This piece matches the shape of the left edge perfectly.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Find 1 bright blue brick 2x3.

Put it horizontally to the left of the previous piece into its cut-out. This means it will sit on the 2 lower rows, starting from their right edge.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright red tile 1x2 with angled top handle,

and 1 pale ocher yellow low profile brick 2x2x⅔. (This profile brick is lower than a standard brick but higher than a plate.)

Put the tile 1x2 vertically to the left of the previous piece, handle on the right.

This angled handle will later serve as the seatback for the pilot!

Put the low profile brick on the 2 lower rows, starting from their left edge. This means that the 4 leftmost knobs on the higher level remain empty.

Find 1 bright red trapezoid plate 3x4 with cut-out.

Put it horizontally on the rightmost edge, matching its shape. This means the cut-out is to the left.

Find 2 bright red plates 1x4.

Put 1 horizontally to the left of the previous piece on the backmost row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find 1 bright red trapezoid plate 3x4 with cut-out.

Put it horizontally to the left of the 2 previous pieces, cut-out to the right. This means that the 4 leftmost knobs of the structure will remain empty again.

Find 2 bright red plates 1x2 with top clasp.

Put 1 horizontally to the left of the previous piece on the back row, clasp to the left.

Put the other one horizontally in front of the previous piece, clasp to the left.

Find 2 titanium metallic and dark stone grey shooters with trigger and 1x2 base plate.

Flip 1 upright horizontally, trigger and knob facing you, making sure the base plate is towards the right.

Mount it on the 2 left side knobs pointing to the front.

If done correctly, the shooter barrel opening is towards the left.

Repeat symmetrically at the back, shooter barrel opening again to the left.

These will later serve as the water launchers!

Find 2 dark stone grey one-stepped curve tiles 1x3.

Put 1 upright horizontally on previous piece and the 2 knobs to its right, curve to the right.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 bright red sloped lattice element 1x2x⅔,

and 1 medium stone grey smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔. (This piece is printed.)

Put 1 lattice element horizontally on the 2 knobs in front of the previous piece, slope to the left.

Repeat symmetrically at the front, slope again to the left.

Put the smooth roof tile 1x2 vertically centered on the fourth column from the left, slope to the right. If done correctly, there are 2 empty columns between this piece and the tile 1x2 with angled top handle.

The roof tile is printed with the car's instruments! They are arranged in a black oval. At the top, there is the fuel meter with a blue background and a red needle. Below there are two dial gauges: the one on the right is showing the tachometer with a black background, white unit lines and a red needle, the one on the left is the speedometer with an identical color scheme.

Next, we will assemble the storage compartment.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 dark stone grey cupboard doors 3x2,

and 2 bright red cupboard elements 2x3x2.

Put 1 cupboard element on the table, knobs to the top, opening towards the front.

Hold 1 cupboard door horizontally, handle towards the front and on the right.

Snap the 2 small nubs on the left edge of the door into the indentations inside the cupboard element on its left edge.

Repeat with the 2 remaining pieces, handle again on the right.

Mount 1 cupboard horizontally on the 2 back rows to the right of the lattice element, door to the back.

Put the other cupboard horizontally in front of the first one, door to the front.

The storage compartment is finished, great job!

Find 1 bright red brick 1x2.

First, turn the structure vertically so that the shooter barrel openings and the 2 clasps are to the back.

Put the brick horizontally centered on the second row from the front. This means it will touch the storage compartment.

Find 1 bright red inverted roof tile 2x2, 45°.

Put it in front of the previous piece, slope overhanging to the front.

Find 2 white bricks 1x2 with 2 side knobs on long side.

Put 1 vertically on the left knobs of the 2 previous pieces, leaving the frontmost knob of that column empty. Make sure the side knobs are pointing to the left.

Put the other one vertically to the right of the previous piece, side knobs to the right.

Find 1 bright red inverted roof tile 2x2, 45°.

Put it in front of the 2 previous pieces, slope overhanging to the front.

Find 2 bright blue half-cylinder bricks 2x2 with 2 knobs.

Put 1 upright on the 2 side knobs pointing to the left, its 2 knobs forming a horizontal row running from front to back. Also, make sure that it is flush with the top edge of the other bricks.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Find 2 black plates 1x3.

Put 1 horizontally on the rightmost column directly behind the previous piece.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 6 black half cylinders 1x1.

Use 3 of them to cover the previous piece, making sure that their curves are all running from left to right.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Next, we will build the helicopter tail.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark stone grey plate 2x16, (this piece was loose in the box)

and 1 black plate 2x3.

Put the plate 2x16 horizontally on the table.

Put the plate 2x3 horizontally on the 3 leftmost columns.

Find 2 medium stone grey plates 1x2 with vertical clasp on long side.

Put 1 horizontally to the right of the previous piece on the back row, clasp to the back.

Put the other one horizontally in front of the previous piece, clasp to the front.

Find 1 dark stone grey rotor base plate 2x4 with top connector.

Put it horizontally on the 4 leftmost columns.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright red two-stepped curve tile 2x4,

and 1 bright red flat tile 1x2.

Put the two-stepped curve tile 2x4 horizontally to the right of the top connector, curve to the right. The bottom steps of the curve piece match the steps of the structure perfectly.

Put the flat tile 1x2 vertically on the leftmost column.

Find 1 black cross axle extension 3m with middle bushing. (3m means that this piece is about 3 knobs long.)

Hold it horizontally and make sure that its round hole in the middle is running from top to bottom.

Now, lower it onto the top connector, inserting the connector into the middle round hole. If done correctly, this piece is rotating freely on the connector, with the 2 cross hole ends pointing in horizontal directions.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black plate 2x2 with 1 cut-off corner,

and 1 black plate 1x2 with thin connector on long side.

Put the plate 1x2 with thin connector horizontally on the front row, starting from the right edge, connector overhanging to the front.

Put the plate with cut-off corner behind the previous piece, cut-off corner to the back left, 1 knob overhanging to the back.

Find 1 transparent blue plate 1x2.

Put it vertically to the left of the 2 previous pieces.

Find 1 bright red smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔. (This piece is printed.)

Put it vertically to the left of the previous piece, slope to the left.

This piece is printed with the numbers "0 4" in bold white lettering.

Find 1 bright red rudder 2x6x4. (The sides of this piece are printed.)

Put it horizontally on the 6 rightmost knobs, rudder overhanging to the right.

Its sides are printed with the logo of the fire brigade: it consists of a black, badge-shaped outline with a silvery grey background and a red flame in the middle.

Find 1 black propeller with 3 blades.

Hold it upright and snap its middle hole on the thin connector pointing to the front just below the rudder.

The helicopter tail is finished! Great job! Before you mount it, turn the helicopter body horizontally again. Make sure that the shooter barrel openings and the 2 clasps are to the left.

Now, mount the tail horizontally centered on the top surface of the helicopter body, making sure that the left edge of the tail and the left edge of the storage compartment are flush. This means that 9 columns will be overhanging to the right.

Find 2 black handles with 2 end knobs.

Snap 1 upright horizontally into the front clasp to the right of the storage compartment.

Repeat symmetrically at the back.

Find 1 transparent cockpit 4x6x2 with front shaft.

Hold it so that the cockpit curvature is towards the top and the shaft is on the left.

Snap the shaft into the 2 clasps on the left edge and fold the cockpit down.

Find 1 black undercarriage 12x6x1⅓.

Put it horizontally on the table, shorter ends to the left, longer ends to the right.

Now, mount the helicopter body with tail horizontally on the undercarriage. Make sure that the 4x4 base plate of the helicopter is symmetrically centered on the undercarriage. The helicopter tail will protrude to the right, extending way beyond the undercarriage.

Now, we will assemble 2 rotor blades.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 dark stone grey cross axle bushings 1m with hinge stub, (These pieces are about 2 knobs long and are shaped like small tubes with 1 cross hole.)

and 2 bright red cross axles 2m with 2 grooves.

Insert the cross axles into the open ends of the 2 bushings. Half of each cross axle will stick out.

Find 2 black flaps 2x8 with hinge fork.

Snap the hinge forks on the hinge stubs of the bushings.

The 2 rotor blades are finished! Great job! Insert the cross axle of one rotor blade into the cross axle extension mounted on the helicopter's top connector.

Repeat with the second rotor blade. Make sure both rotor blades extend horizontally without a bend in their hinges.

Find 4 transparent light blue round tiles 1x1.

With the next steps, be careful and diligently observe the instructions.

Flip 1 upright and carefully insert it into one shooter barrel opening. Do not yet touch the trigger after inserting.

Repeat with another round tile on the second shooter.

Warning! Do not aim at eye or face.

To trigger the water launchers, push in the triggers with medium force. This might need some practice. But every firefighter has to learn how to use their equipment first! You can use the remaining blue round tiles 1x1 as backup water supply. You can store them in the storage compartment.

The firefighter helicopter is finished! Great job! Make sure the rotor blades and the rear propeller are freely rotating, the cockpit can be opened and closed as required and store your equipment in the storage compartment.

You have finished building the entire set! Fantastic job! It is time to mount your fire rescue helicopter and douse the flames from above. Charge the water launchers, open the cockpit, seat your firefighter Minifigure in the pilot's seat, secure the cockpit and equipment and off you go!
