LEGO 60399 Green Race Car

LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO City Great Vehicles set "Green Race Car".

Gear up for high-speed fun with the LEGO City Green Race Car. Get behind the wheel of this supercool racer and prepare for pedal-to-the-metal action! Make a tire-screeching start, zip around bends and whiz past the photographer to cross the finish line in record time! Then take a lap of honor with the winner's trophy before heading to the next racetrack.

The box cover shows the green race car with black and orange airbrushing and the number 40 on the engine hood. The car is speeding around the racetrack, it's so fast that the tires are positively smoking! The driver has a self-confident smile on her face as she is maneuvering the vehicle. On the side of the racetrack, a sports photographer is taking a picture of the racer. In the background of the scene, the spectator stands surrounding the racetrack are packed with excited fans. Some of the garages of the different race cars are also visible, but they are all empty of course as the cars are racing each other at the moment. Now, it's time for you to join the race – ready, set, go!

Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you!

The box contains 1 booklet with visual building instructions, 2 unnumbered bags, and 1 loose piece: a wagon bottom 6x10 with 4 connectors.

Carefully open all bags. Before you start building, ask a sighted person to help you sort the pieces by color. This makes finding the correct pieces even easier!

First, we will build the race driver Minifigure with trophy.

Note that the basic pieces for the race driver Minifigure and the basic pieces for the photographer Minifigure have identical shapes. They only differ in color and prints, so pay close attention to the colors of the pieces, or ask a sighted person to help you confirm the correct pieces.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white, black and bright orange upper part of the body,

and 1 white pair of legs.

Put the upper body on the legs. Make sure that hands and toes are pointing in the same direction. The elbows should bend to the back.

Find 1 bright yellow Minifigure head. (Only the face print differs from the photographer's head. Ask a sighted person to confirm the correct piece.)

Put it on the body.

Next, we will assemble the driver's helmet.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white safety helmet with chin strap,

and 1 transparent helmet visor.

Snap the visor into the opening of the helmet. Use the small nubs inside the visor ends and the matching indentations on the helmet.

Put the helmet on the head.

Find 1 dark nougat brown hairpiece with side parting and ponytail.

When the racer is not driving her car, you can exchange the helmet for the hair.

Now, we will build the winner's trophy.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 medium stone grey plate 2x2 with 1 knob,

and 1 dark stone grey anvil piece 1x2 with 1 knob.

Put the plate 2x2 on the table.

Put the anvil piece 1x2 horizontally on top. Make sure its long edges are parallel to the edges of the plate 2x2.

Find 1 warm gold trophy piece with 2 handles.

Put it horizontally on the previous piece, handles to the left and right.

The winner's trophy is finished! Well done! What a worthy prize for a breathtaking race. Who will claim it at the end of the competition?

The race driver Minifigure with trophy is finished! Well done! The race driver is wearing a white racing suit. The pants are fully white while the sleeves of the jacket are black. It has a protected zipper strip, black shoulder patches with pale green bottom lines, and 2 vertical pale green stripes running down along each side at the front and back. Across the chest, there is a bold black stripe with the word "AIR" in white letters and a yin-yang-shaped symbol with a blue and orange drop. The race driver has a very confident smile on her face. It seems that we are dealing with an experienced racer who loves a challenge!

Next up, we will build the photographer Minifigure.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 teal blue and bright yellow upper part of the body,

and 1 earth blue pair of legs.

Put the upper body on the legs. Make sure the hands and toes are pointing in the same direction.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black hairpiece with short frizzy hair,

and 1 bright yellow Minifigure head.

Put the head on the body.

Put the hair on top.

Now, we will assemble the camera.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black Minifigure camera piece,

and 1 black round brick 1x1.

Put the round brick upright on the front knob of the camera piece. This is the zoom lens of the camera!

Find 1 transparent round tile 1x1.

Put it upright on the previous piece.

The camera is finished! Well done! Snap its side handle into one of the photographer's hands. Its impressive zoom lens helps the photographer to take close-up pictures of the race while being far away from the actual action.

The photographer Minifigure is finished! Great job! He is wearing dark blue pants and a blue T-shirt with an abstract print on it: a white triangle shape with a red center. He is wearing a teal blue puffer jacket with zipper over his shirt. He has a happy expression on his face. It seems that he is looking forward to the upcoming race!

Now, we will build the Green Race Car.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 black wagon bottom 6x10 with 4 connectors,

and 2 bright orange plates 1x4.

Put the wagon bottom 6x10 horizontally on the table, connectors to the front and back.

Put 1 plate 1x4 horizontally centered on the frontmost row. This is the 4-knob row that is protruding to the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔,

and 1 black and medium stone grey small steering wheel with plate 1x2.

Put the small steering wheel vertically centered on the fourth column from the left, steering wheel to the right.

Put the smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔ vertically centered on the fourth column from the right, slope to the left.

If done correctly, there are 2 empty columns between steering wheel and roof tile.

The smooth roof tile will be the seatback of the driver's seat!

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green inverted roof tile 2x2, 45°,

and 1 bright orange brick 2x2.

Put the brick 2x2 to the right of the previous piece.

Put the inverted roof tile to the right of the previous piece, 1 row and slope overhanging to the right.

Find 2 transparent red flat tiles 1x2.

Put 1 horizontally on the 2 high knobs behind the 2 previous pieces.

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find 2 bright yellowish green roof tiles 1x2, 45°.

Put 1 horizontally to the left of the previous piece on the lower level, slope to the left.

Repeat symmetrically at the back, slope to the left.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black rounded plate 1x4,

and 1 black plate 2x2.

Put the rounded plate 1x4 vertically on top of the 2 previous pieces and the brick between them.

Put the plate 2x2 centered to the right of the previous piece. If done correctly, the rightmost column (on the overhanging slope) remains empty for now.

Find 1 black plate 1x2 with 2 vertical clasps on long side.

Put it vertically to the right of the previous piece, clasps to the right.

Find 2 bright yellowish green roof tiles 1x2, 45°.

Put 1 vertically on the back half of the rounded plate 1x4 (we have mounted this piece 2 steps ago), slope to the back.

Put the other one vertically in front of the previous piece, slope to the front.

Find 2 bright orange plates 1x2 with 1 knob.

Put 1 vertically on top of the 2 previous pieces.

Put the other one vertically centered to the right of the previous piece on a lower level.

Find 1 bright yellowish green curve piece 3x4 with 3 sloped sides.

Turn it horizontally so that the long slope and narrow end are to the right.

Put it on the right edge of the structure, its bottom cutout on the left edge covering the previous piece.

Find 1 black spoiler element with bottom shaft. (This is roughly the size of a flat tile 2x4 with a bottom shaft and bent down wings.)

Snap the shaft on the 2 clasps pointing to the right. Then flip the spoiler plate to the top.

Find 1 black one-stepped curve tile 1x2.

Put it horizontally on the highest knob of the structure, curve to the right.

If done correctly, the right half of this piece sits atop the curve piece 3x4 with 3 slopes.

Next, we will build the front bumper with engine hood.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 black plate 2x6 with 2 rounded corners,

and 2 bright orange smooth roof tiles 1x1.

Put the plate 2x6 horizontally on the table, rounded corners to the front.

Put 1 smooth roof tile 1x1 on the back row on its leftmost knob, slope to the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the right, slope to the left.

Find 1 bright yellowish green curve brick 2x6 with 4 knobs. (This piece is printed.)

Turn it vertically so that the slope and narrow end are to the front.

Starting from the front edge, mount it on the 2 middle columns, 2/3 of the curve brick overhanging to the back.

The slope of this piece is printed with a black stripe in a narrow U-shape that becomes thicker towards the center. The inner side of this shape is filled with an orange area, and in the top third of the U-shaped stripe there is a round black emblem with a white "40" in the middle.

The front bumper with engine hood is finished! Great job! Turn it to the left so that curve brick 2x6 is oriented horizontally, slope to the left, plate 2x6 with rounded corners on the left.

To mount it, put the right half of the curve brick on the 2 middle rows, coming from the left. Make sure the right edge of the curve brick touches the steering wheel piece.

Find 2 bright yellowish green roof tiles 1x2, 45°.

Put 1 horizontally behind the curve brick's rightmost column and the steering wheel, slope to the right.

Repeat symmetrically at the front, slope to the right.

Find 1 black rounded plate 1x4.

Put it vertically on the 2 previous pieces and the rightmost column of the curve brick.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔,

and 1 bright orange plate 1x2 with 1 knob.

Put the plate 1x2 vertically centered on the previous piece.

Put the smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔ vertically to the left of the previous piece, slope to the left.

Find 2 bright yellowish green curve pieces 1x4x1 with rounded corners. (These pieces are printed.)

Put 1 horizontally on the frontmost column, curve to the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back, curve to the back.

These pieces have identical prints: in the top half, there is a black trapeze shape with orange filling that is tapered towards the bottom. In the bottom half, the word "AIR" is airbrushed in white letters with a black edge. It is tapered towards the top where the 2 trapeze shapes meet.

Next, we will assemble the 4 wheels.

Collect the following 8 pieces:

4 silver metallic narrow rims with cross hole and spokes,

and 4 black narrow rubber tires with low profile.

Put the rims into the tires.

The 4 wheels are finished! Well done! Snap the wheels on the 4 connectors of the wagon bottom, making sure that the spokes are facing outwards.

The Green Race Car is finished! Great job! Give it a spin before you take to the racetrack!

You have finished building the entire set! Fantastic job! Now it's time to put your skills to the test on the racetrack: make sure your car is in top shape, put on your racing helmet, get into the driver's seat and wait for the start signal! Who will win the sought-after trophy? Oh, and don't forget the winner's smile when you pass the photographer!

Enjoy!
