LEGO 60249 Street Sweeper 

LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO City set "Street Sweeper".

It’s time to clean up the LEGO® City streets! Help the driver steer the Street Sweeper truck with awesome spinning brushes. Wow! Cleaning the roads really is child’s play with this cool machine! Then open the back of the truck, grab your shovel and throw the junk into the garbage can before you drive to the next job. Another street successfully cleaned by the everyday heroes of LEGO City

The box front shows the Street Sweeper cleaning the street. A full garbage can is ready to be emptied.

Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you!

The box contains a booklet with visual building instructions and bags containing elements to build with.

Carefully open the plastic bags. Before you get started, ask a sighted person to help you sort the bricks by color. This will help you find the correct pieces even quicker!

First, we will build the garbage man Minifigure.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright orange and dark stone grey upper part of the body,

and 1 bright orange pair of legs.

Put the upper part of the body on the legs.

The Minifigure wears an orange jacket and orange pants with a brown belt.  

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellow head,

and 1 earth blue cap.

Put them on top

The Minifigure looks friendly with a smile on his face

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark green garbage can 2x2x2,

and 1 bright yellow banana.

Put the garbage can on the table.  

Put the banana into the garbage can.

The garbage man Minifigure is finished! Great job! He can use the garbage can to collect litter, and once the street sweeper is finished he will be able to empty the garbage can into the back of the truck.

Next, we are going to build the street sweeper.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark stone grey plate 2x10,

and 1 black brick 1x2 with 2 technic holes.

Put the plate 2x10 horizontally on the table.

Put the brick 1x2 vertically on the leftmost edge.

Now, we will make a small build.

Find 1 dark green plate 1x4.

Put it horizontally on the table.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 bright yellow plate 1x2 with side handle,

and 2 transparent red plates 1x1.

Put the plate 1x2 horizontally centered on top, side handle to the front.

Put the two plates 1x1 to the left and right of the previous plate.

Find 1 dark green plate 1x4.

Put it horizontally on top.

Put the small build vertically centered on top at the rightmost edge, side handle to the right.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 medium stone grey plates with bows 2x2 with 2 knobs,

and 2 pale ocher yellow plates 1x2 with 1 knob.

Put one plate with bow 2x2 with two knobs to the left, knobs to the right

Put 1 plate 1x2 with one knob vertically to the left of the previous element.

Skip 2 columns to the left, and put on the other plate 1x2 vertically.

Put the other plate with bows 2x2 with 2 knobs to the left, knobs to the left

Find 1 bright red flat tile 1x4.

Put it horizontally centered on top of the 2 plates 1x2 with one knob.

Next, we will make another small build.

Find 1 dark green plate 4x4.

Put it on the table.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 dark green bricks 1x1,

and 1 dark green brick 1x2 with side cross hole.

Put the brick 1x2 with cross hole vertically centered on the rightmost edge

Put the 2 bricks 1x1 to the front and back of the previous element

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 dark green bricks 1x1,

and 1 dark green brick 1x2 with side cross hole.

Put the brick 1x2 with cross hole vertically centered on the leftmost edge

Put the 2 bricks 1x1 to the front and back of the previous element

Turn the small build so that the bricks rows are horizontally in front of you. Then, mount the small build horizontally centered underneath the structure.

Find 1 dark green plate 4x8.

Put it horizontally centered on top.

Find 2 medium stone grey bearing plates 2x2 with 2 side connectors.

Turn the structure upside down, side handle to the right.

Put 1 bearing plate upside down vertically on top, skipping 1 column from the left.

Repeat symmetrically on the right

Find 2 black plates 1x2.

Put 1 plate 1x2 vertically to the right of the previous element

Put the other plate 1x2 vertically on the leftmost column.

Find 1 medium stone grey roof tile 2x4.

Turn the structure right side up again, side handle to the right

Put the roof tile 2x4 horizontally centered on the rightmost edge, slope to the right.

Find 4 white inverted roof tiles 2x2.

Put two inverted roof tiles on the back row starting from the right, slopes to the back

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Find 1 medium stone grey wall element 1x4x1.

Put it vertically centered on the left edge of the roof tiles, wall to the left.

Find 2 white bricks 1x4, printed with green recycle icons.

Put 1 horizontally on the back row, starting from the right, decoration to the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front, decoration to the front.

Find 2 white bricks 1x1 with side clasp.

Put 1 on the rightmost edge behind the previous element, clasp to the right.

Put the other one on the rightmost edge on the second knob from the back, clasp to the right.

Find 1 white double roof tile 4x6, 45°.

Put it vertically on top at the right edge, slopes to the front and back.

Find 1 white flat tile 2x3 with 2 side clasps.

Turn it horizontally and upside down, then click the clasps on the side handle on the right side

This tile functions as the back door, flip it up to close it.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white brick 1x3x2 with inverted half arch,

and 1 dark stone grey brick 1x2x2.

Put the brick 1x3x2 with inverted half arch horizontally on the lower level on the backmost row, skipping two columns from the left. Make sure the knob is on the right side.

Put the brick 1x2x2 vertically in the front of the previous element, skipping 4 columns from the left.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white brick 1x3x2 with inverted half arch,

and 1 bright yellow plate 1x2 with angled top handle.

Put the plate 1x2 with angled top handle vertically to the left of the previous element, slope to the left.

Put the brick 1x3x2 horizontally in front of the previous elements, skipping 2 columns from the left. Make sure that the knob is on the right side again

Find 2 white bricks 1x2.

Put one vertically on top of the previous piece

Put the other one vertically behind the previous piece.

The roof is now 4x5 knobs.  

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 dark green plate 2x4,

and 2 dark green flat tiles 1x3.

Put one flat tile 1x3 horizontally on the back row at the rightmost edge

Repeat symmetrically at the front.

Put the plate 2x3 vertically to the left of the previous pieces.

Find 1 dark stone grey smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔.

Put it vertically centered on the right column of the previous piece, slope to the right.

Find 1 white front 4x3x⅔ with 2 wedge tiles.

Put it vertically to the left of the previous element, slopes to the right.

Find 1 dark stone grey plate 1x2 with side rail.

Put it vertically on top of the previous element, rail to the left.

Find 2 white flat tiles 1x1.

Put one on the lower level on the back row, skipping 1 column from the left

Repeat symmetrically at the front

Find 2 white plates 2x2 with 45° cut-off corner.

Put 1 to the left of the previous element, 45° corner to the front and left.

Put the other one behind the previous element, 45° corner to the back and left.

Find 1 black and bright yellow small steering wheel with plate 1x2.

Put it vertically centered on the second column from the left, steering wheel to the right.

Find 2 medium stone grey connector pegs with middle ring.

Put them in the two holes on the left side of the structure

Find 1 transparent brown windscreen 4x3x3 with sharp edges.

Put it vertically on the leftmost edge, slope to the left.

Find 2 transparent bright orange round plates 1x1.

Put one on top of the windscreen on the backmost knob.  

Put the other one on the frontmost knob

Next, we'll make a small part.

Find 1 black bottom angle plate 1x2 - 1x2 with 2 side knobs.

Put it vertically on the table, side knobs to the left.

Find 2 transparent smooth roof tiles 1x1x2/3.

Put 1 upright and place it on the side knob at the back, slope pointing downwards.

Repeat symmetrically on the front knob.

Mount the small part vertically on top of the windscreen on the leftmost edge.

Next up, we will build the roof.

Find 1 white engine hood plate 4x4 with 2 angled corners.

Put it on the table, knobs to the right

Find 1 transparent bright orange flat tile 1x2.

Put it vertically centered on the knobs on the right.

Put the roof on top of the windscreen, flat tile to the right.

Now, we are going to assemble the wheels.

Find 4 medium stone grey wide rims with notched hole.

Put them on the table.  

Find 4 black wide slick rubber tires.

Put the rims into the tires

Turn the wheels upright and put them on the 4 connectors on the side of the car

We are now going to build the side brushes

Find 1 dark stone grey cross axle with end stop, 4 knobs long.

Put it on the table

Find 1 bright blue brush.

Put the brush on the cross axle

Put the small build into the cross hole on the front side of the structure at the bottom.

Next up is the other side brush.

Find 1 dark stone grey cross axle with end stop, 4 knobs long.

Put it on the table

Find 1 bright blue brush.

Put the brush on the cross axle.

Turn the street sweeper left to right. This means that now, the windscreen is pointing to the right.

Put the small build into the cross hole on the front side of the structure at the bottom.

Now, let's build the first of the two front brushes.

Find 1 dark stone grey technic beam with offset cross hole, 3 knobs long.

Put it horizontally on the table, cross hole to the left, and running top to bottom.

Find 1 pale ocher yellow connector peg with cross axle pin, 2 knobs long.

Insert the cross axle top-to-bottom into the cross hole.

Find 1 bright blue double bevel gear wheel with 20 teeth.

Put the gear wheel on the connector.

Now, turn the small build upside down. This means that the bevel gear wheel is now at the bottom.

Put the outer hole of the small build on the front connector on the right side of the structure, gear wheel to the front.

That was tricky! Great job, you are almost there!

We are now going to build the second front brush.

Find 1 dark stone grey technic beam with offset cross hole, 3 knobs long.

Put it horizontally on the table, cross hole to the right, and running top to bottom.

Find 1 pale ocher yellow connector peg with cross axle pin, 2 knobs long.

Insert the cross axle top-to-bottom into the cross hole.

Find 1 bright blue double bevel gear wheel with 20 teeth.

Put the gear wheel on the connector peg.

Now, turn the small build upside down so that the gear wheel is at the bottom.

Next, turn the whole structure right to left. The windshield is now pointing to the left again.

Put the small build on the remaining connector on the left side of the structure, gear wheel to the front.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 reddish brown mini broom,

and 1 dark stone grey mini shovel.

Put the broom upright into the front clasp on the right side of the street sweeper.

Put the shovel upright into the back clasp on the right side.

You have now finished building the street sweeper. Well done! Now, there is lots to do for the LEGO City garbage team! Seat the garbage man in the driver's cabin and sweep the streets of LEGO City. Use the shovel and broom to fill up the garbage can, and as soon as it's full you can empty it into the back of the truck.
