LEGO 60242 Police Highway Arrest 

LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO City set "Police Highway Arrest".

The infamous crook Vito is speeding away with a stolen safe packed with bank notes and gold bars. Set chase with heroic lieutenant Duke DeTain in his awesome police car. Crash! Vito has met a crate of fish – head on! Well intercepted! Now take a deep breath and help Duke arrest that fishy crook. 

The box cover shows the crook Vito crashing into a crate of fish. Lieutenant Duke DeTain sits in the police car.

Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you!

The box contains 2 booklets with visual building instructions and 2 numbered bags.

Open bag 1. Ask a sighted person to help you find the correct bag and open it carefully.  This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the policeman Minifigure and the police car.

Before you get started, ask a sighted person to help you sort the bricks by color. This will help you find the correct pieces even quicker!  

First, we will build the policeman Minifigure. He has handcuffs in his hand, so he is ready to arrest the crook.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 earth blue and dark stone grey upper part of the body,

and 1 black pair of legs.

Put the upper part of the body on top of the legs. 

The policeman wears a dark blue shirt with a brown belt and his police badge on the left side of his chest.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellow head,

and 1 black curly hairpiece.

Put them on top.

The policeman wears dark sunglasses.

Find 1 medium stone grey pair of handcuffs.

Put the handcuffs in his left hand. 

The policeman is now finished. Well done. Put him aside for now.

Next, we are going to build the police car. 

Find 1 black wheel bearing 6x10x1 with 4 connector pins.

Put it horizontally on the table. 

Find 2 medium stone grey plates 1x6.

Put one horizontally centered on the second row from the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back. 

Find 2 lemon yellow plates 1x4.

Put one horizontally centered on the frontmost row.

Repeat symmetrically at the back. 

Find 4 bright red round plates 1x1.

Put two on each end of the medium stone grey plates 1x6 on the second row from the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back. 

Find 1 medium stone grey plate 1x2 with angled top handle.

Put it vertically centered on the 4th column from the right, straight edge to the right.

Find 1 white brick 2x4.

Put it horizontally centered to the right of previous piece, 1 column overhanging to the right.

Find 1 black and bright yellow small steering wheel with plate 1x2.

Put it vertically centered on the 4th column from the left, steering wheel to the right. 

Find 1 bright yellow brick 2x3.

Put it horizontally to the left of the previous piece. 

Find 2 bright blue mudguards 2x4x2.

Put one horizontally on the backmost row on the right, mudguard fender to the back. Make sure one knob is overhanging to the right.

Repeat symmetrically at the front, mudguard fender to the front.

Find 2 bright blue plates 2x4.

Put one horizontally to the left of the previous piece at the front.  

Repeat symmetrically at the back. 

Find 1 bright red brick 1x4 with 4 side knobs.

Put it vertically on the table, side knobs to the left. 

Find 1 bright yellow flat tile 1x4.

Turn it upright and put it horizontally on the 4 side knobs on the left. 

Put the small build vertically on the structure on the 4th column from the right, flat tile 1x4 to the left.

Find 1 dark green brick 2x2.

Put it to the right of the previous pieces. 

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 bright red brick 1x4 with 4 side knobs,

and 2 transparent bright orange plates 1x1.

Put the red brick 1x4 with side knobs vertically centered on the rightmost edge, side knobs to the right. 

Put one plate 1x1 behind the previous piece on the back row.

Repeat symmetrically at the front. 

Now, let's build the rear end of the police car.

Find 1 bright blue quarter-circle plate 3x3.

Put it on the table with the rounded edge to the right and front. 

Find 1 lemon yellow plate 1x4.

Skip one knob from the right, and put it horizontally on the back row. This means that two knobs are overhanging to the left.

Find 1 bright blue quarter-circle plate 3x3.

Put it underneath the previous piece, rounded edge to the left and front.

Find 1 bright blue one-stepped curve tile 2x2x⅔.

Put it centered on the 2 back rows, curve to the front. 

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 transparent red smooth roof tiles 1x1x⅔,

and 2 transparent bright orange plates 1x1.

Put the plates 1x1 to the left and right of the previous piece on the back row. 

Put one roof tile on the rightmost edge of the back row, slope to the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left, slope to the left. 

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 black grille tile 1x2,

and 2 medium stone grey round plates 1x1 with through-hole.

Put the grille tile centered on the front row. 

Put the round plates 1x1 to the left and right of the previous piece at the front. 

Continue if you want to put a sticker on the rear end now, showing the license plate. If not, skip the following 3 sentences.

Find 1 sticker number 2. Ask a sighted person to help you. 

Put the sticker horizontally centered on the curve tile 2x2 at the back.

The sticker is printed with a black and white license plate, showing the license tag: D3TA1N, which is code for "DETAIN".

Careful! We are now going to mount the rear end on the right side of the police car.

Turn the small build upright, grille tile at the bottom. Mount it on the right side of the police car. Make sure that the top of the rear end is flush with the rest of the car.

Find 1 bright blue brick 1x4.

Turn the police car 180 degrees. This means that now the rear end is pointing to the left.

Put the brick horizontally on the frontmost row.

Continue if you want to decorate the side of the police car with a sticker now, it is printed with the word: "POLICE". If not, skip the following 2 sentences.

Find 1 sticker number 1. Ask a sighted person to help you.   

Put the sticker on the front side surface of the previous piece.

Find 1 bright blue brick 1x4.

Turn the police car 180 degrees so that the rear end is pointing to the right again.

Put the brick horizontally on the frontmost row.

Continue if you want to decorate the side of the police car with a sticker now, it is printed with the word: "POLICE". If not, skip the following 2 sentences.

Find 1 sticker number 1. Ask a sighted person to help you.   

Put the sticker on the front side of the previous piece. 

Find 2 bright blue mudguards 2x4x2.

Put one horizontally on the backmost row on the left, mudguard fender to the back. Make sure one knob is overhanging to the left.

Repeat symmetrically at the front, mudguard fender to the front.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 bright blue flat tiles 1x4,

and 2 bright blue roof tiles with lattice 1x2x⅔.

Skip 3 columns from the left, and put the 2 flat tiles horizontally on the frontmost and backmost row. 

Put the 2 roof tiles with lattice horizontally to the right of the previous pieces, slopes to the left.

Find 1 bright blue plate 4x6 with two angled corners, 26°.

Put it to the right of the previous pieces, the angled corners to the right.

Find 1 lemon yellow plate 1x4.

Put it vertically to the left of the previous piece, between the two roof tiles with lattice. 

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white roof tile 1x4x1,

and 1 transparent brown curved sport front 2x2.

Put the curved sport front centered on top of the previous piece, curve to the right.

Put the roof tile 1x4 horizontally to the back of the previous piece, slope to the right. 

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white roof tile 1x4x1,

and 1 white flat tile 1x6.

Put the roof tile 1x4 horizontally in front of the curved sport front, slope to the right.  

Put the flat tile 1x6 vertically on the rightmost edge, overhanging symmetrically to the front and back. 

Find 1 white plate 1x4 with 2 knobs.

Put it vertically on top on the 2 roof tiles 1x4x1.

Find 1 transparent blue flat tile 1x4.

Put it vertically on top of the previous piece. 

Find 1 bright yellow brick 1x4.

Put it vertically centered on the 4th column from the left.

Find 1 transparent brown windscreen 4x5x1⅓ with 2 knobs.

Put it on the table, slope to the left. 

Find 1 white flat tile 2x4.

Put it vertically on top. 

Skip 3 columns from the left, and put the small build centered on top of the car. Make sure the slope is to the left.

Find 1 dark green plate 1x2.

Put it vertically centered to the left of the windscreen.

Find 1 bright red top angle plate 1x2 - 2x2 with 4 side knobs.

Find 1 white plate 2x2.

Turn the white plate 2x2 upright and put it on the 4 side knobs on the angle plate.

Find 1 bright yellow plate 2x2.

Turn it upright and put it on the previous plate. 

Put the small build centered on the leftmost edge, side plates to the left.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 bright red round plates 1x1,

and 1 dark green plate 2x3.

Put the green plate 2x3 horizontally centered on the leftmost edge. 

Skip 2 columns from the left, and put the two round plates 1x1 in front of and behind the previous plate.

Find 2 white two-stepped curve tiles 1x4.

Put them horizontally on top of the previous pieces, slopes to the left. Make sure the curve tiles are overhanging 1 knob-length to the left.

Find 1 medium stone grey motor 2x2x1⅓.

Skip one column from the left, and put it centered between the previous pieces, wide end to the left.

Find 1 bright blue one-stepped curve tile 2x2x⅔.

Put it to the left of the previous piece, slope to the left.

We are now going to build the front of the police car.

Find 1 bright blue plate 2x6 with 2 round corners.

Put it vertically on the table, round corners to the left.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 transparent blue plates 1x2,

and 2 transparent yellow round tiles 1x1.

Put the blue plates vertically on the right column. Make sure to skip one knob each at the front and back.

Put the round tiles in front of and behind the previous pieces.

Find 2 black grille tiles 1x2.

Put them vertically centered on the right column.

Find 2 medium stone grey rounded plates 1x2.

Put them vertically on the left column.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 bright blue smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔,

and 2 medium stone grey round tiles 1x1.

Put the roof tile centered on the left column, slope to the right.

Put the 2 round tiles in front of and behind the previous piece.

Continue if you want to put a sticker on the front end, showing the license plate. If not, skip the following 3 sentences.  

Find 1 sticker number 3. Ask a sighted person to help you.  

Put it vertically on the roof tile. 

The sticker is printed with a black and white license plate showing the license tag D3TA1N.

Careful! We are now going to mount the front end on the left side of the police car.

Turn the small build upright, grille tiles at the top. Mount it on the left side of the police car.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright blue right wedge tile 1x2 with bow and 45° cut,

and 1 bright blue left wedge tile 1x2 with bow and 45° cut.

Put the right wedge tile horizontally on the leftmost edge at the back, cut to the left back.

Put the left wedge tile horizontally on the leftmost edge at the front, cut to the left front.

We are now going to assemble the wheels. 

Find 4 black narrow rims with hole and spokes.

Find 4 black narrow rubber tires with low profile.

Put the rims into the tires.

Mount the wheels on the 4 connectors on the side of the car, spokes facing outwards.

The car is now finished. Well done. You are also finished with bag 1. The policeman Minifigure is now ready to patrol the streets of LEGO City and track down mischief-makers!

Open bag 2. Ask a sighted person to help you find the correct bag and open it carefully.  

This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the crook Minifigure, his getaway car and the crate with fish on the roadside. You can ask a sighted person to sort the bricks by color again if you like.

Now, we are going to build the crook Minifigure. He has a crowbar in his hand.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 maroon red and bright yellow upper part of the body,

and 1 black pair of legs.

Put the upper part of the body on the legs.

He wears a red shirt with a white and black striped tie. His jacket is maroon red and his pants are black. 

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellow head,

and 1 black hairpiece.

Put them on top. 

He has dark circles around his eyes and a mole on his right cheek.

Find 1 black Minifigure crowbar.

Put it in his left hand. 

The crook is now finished. Well done. Put him aside for now.

Next, we are going to build the getaway car. 

Find 1 black wheel bearing 6x10x1 with 4 connector pins.

Put it horizontally on the table. 

Find 1 dark green plate 2x3.

Put it horizontally centered on the rightmost edge. 

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 pale ocher yellow plate 2x2 with 1 knob,

and 1 reddish brown brick 1x2.

Put the brick vertically centered on the rightmost edge. 

Put the plate to the left of the previous piece. 

Find 2 reddish brown plates 2x4.

Put one horizontally centered on the frontmost two rows.

Repeat symmetrically at the back.

Find 1 medium stone grey brick 2x3.

Put it horizontally centered on the leftmost edge.

Find 1 black and white small steering wheel with plate 1x2.

Put it to the right of the previous piece, steering wheel to the right. 

Find 2 dark stone grey bricks 2x4x1 with fender.

Put one horizontally on the back row at the rightmost edge, fender to the back.

Repeat symmetrically at the front, fender to the front. 

Find 2 bright red inverted double roof tiles 2x6, 45°.

Put one horizontally centered on the 2 back rows. 

Repeat symmetrically at the front. 

Find 2 bright red plates 1x2.

Put one vertically on the 3rd column from the right at the back. 

Repeat symmetrically at the front. 

Find 2 pale ocher yellow panel elements 1x4x1.

Put one horizontally centered on the second row from the front, panel to the front.

Repeat symmetrically at the back, panel to the back.

Find 2 bright red bricks 1x4.

Put one horizontally centered on the front row. 

Repeat symmetrically at the back. 

Find 1 bright yellow plate 2x2.

Put it centered on the second and third column from the left. 

Find 1 bright red plate 1x6.

Put it vertically centered on the third column from the left, symmetrically overhanging to the front and back.

Find 2 pale ocher yellow plates 1x2.

Skip one column from the right, and put one horizontally on the second row from the front.

Put the second one horizontally on the second row from the back, again skipping the rightmost column.

We are now going to build the rear end of the getaway car.

Find 1 white top angle plate 1x2 - 2x4 with 8 side knobs.

Find 1 bright blue plate 2x4.

Turn it upright and put it horizontally on the side knobs.

Put the small build centered on the rightmost edge, side plate to the right.

Find 1 bright red plate 2x6.

Put it vertically centered on the rightmost edge, one column overhanging to the right.

Find 2 bright red roof tiles 1x3, 25°.

Skip one column from the right, and put one horizontally on the second row from the back, slope to the left.

Repeat symmetrically on the second row from the front.

Next, let's make the rear end of the getaway car.

Find 1 bright red plate 2x6.

Put it horizontally on the table.

Collect the following 5 pieces:

1 black grille tile 1x2,

2 transparent red round tiles 1x1,

and 2 transparent bright orange round tiles 1x1.

Put one red round tile on the rightmost knob at the back. 

Put one orange round tile to the left of the previous piece. 

Put the grille tile horizontally to the left. 

Put one orange round tile to the left. 

Put the red round tile on the leftmost knob at the back. 

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 medium stone grey rounded plate 1x2,

and 2 dark stone grey smooth roof tiles 1x2x⅔.

Put one roof tile horizontally on the rightmost edge of the front row, slope to the front.

Put the rounded plate 1x2 horizontally to the left. 

Put the other roof tile horizontally to the left, slope to the front. 

Turn the small build upright, roof tiles to the bottom, and mount it on the right side of the structure.

Find 1 reddish brown plate 1x4.

Put it vertically centered on the rightmost column.

Find 1 bright red flat tile 1x6.

Put it vertically centered on top of the previous piece. 

We are now going to build the safe. 

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 black mailbox casing 2x2x2,

and 1 medium stone grey mailbox front 2x2.

Put the mailbox on the table with the opening to the left. 

Attach the mailbox front to the mailbox on the bottom edge.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 dark green flat tile 1x2, with currency print,

and 2 warm gold ingots 1x2.

Put the items into the safe and close the front.

Continue if you want to put a sticker on the front of the safe, showing the lock for the safe. If not, skip the following 2 sentences. 

Find 1 sticker number 5. Ask a sighted person to help you. 

Turn it upright and put it vertically centered on the front of the safe.

Mount the safe centered in the car on the right edge between the 2 roof tiles. Make sure the front of the safe is facing left.

Find 1 white top angle plate 1x2 - 2x4 with 8 side knobs. 

Find 1 bright blue plate 2x4.

Put it upright on the side knobs of the angle plate. 

Put the small build centered on the leftmost edge, side plate to the left.

Find 2 dark stone grey bricks 2x4x1 with fender.

Put one horizontally on the leftmost edge on the front row, fender to the front. 

Repeat symmetrically at the back, fender to the back. 

Find 1 dark green plate 2x3.

Put it horizontally on the two middle rows on the left edge, 1 column overhanging to the left.

Find 2 black flat tiles 1x8.

Put one horizontally on the front row, skipping one knob from the left. 

Repeat symmetrically at the back.  

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 reddish brown plate 1x4,

and 1 bright blue plate 1x2.

Put the brown plate 1x4 vertically centered on the third column from the left.

Put the blue plate 1x2 vertically centered to the left of previous plate.

Find 1 transparent brown windscreen 4x3x1⅓.

Put it centered on the 4th column from the left, slope to the left. 

We are now going to build the front of the getaway car.

Find 1 bright red brick 2x6.

Put it vertically on the table. 

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 medium stone grey rounded plates 1x2,

and 1 black grille tile 1x2.

Put one rounded plate 1x2 vertically on the right column at the back.  

Put the second rounded plate 1x2 vertically on the right column at the front.  

Put the grille tile 1x2 vertically between the two previous pieces.

Find 4 transparent yellow round tiles 1x1.

Put the 4 round tiles on top of the two rounded plates. 

Find 3 dark stone grey smooth roof tiles 1x2x⅔.

Put them vertically on the left column, slopes to the left.

Turn the small build upright with the roof tiles pointing down. Mount it centered on the left side of the structure.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 medium stone grey flat tile 2x2,

and 2 bright red two-stepped curve tiles 2x4.

Put the flat tile centered to the left of the windscreen. 

Put one curve tile horizontally on the front 2 rows on the leftmost edge, slope to the left.

Repeat symmetrically at the back. 

Find 1 black one-stepped curve tile 2x2x⅔.

Put it on the table, slope to the left. 

Continue if you want to put a sticker on the tile, showing a white bulldog. If not skip the following 2 sentences.  

Find 1 sticker number 4. Ask a sighted person to help you. 

Put the sticker on the curved surface.

The sticker is decorated with an angry white bulldog with a red spiky collar.

Put it on the structure centered on the leftmost edge, curve to the left.

We are now going to assemble the wheels and put them on the getaway car.

Find 4 medium stone grey wide rims with notched hole.

Find 4 black wide rubber tires with high profile.

Put the rims into the tires. 

Turn the wheels upright and put them on the side connectors of the getaway car.

The getaway car is now finished. Nice job!

Finally, we will build the crate of fish and the roadside. 

Find 1 medium stone grey plate 4x8.

Put it horizontally on the table.

Find 1 pale ocher yellow roof tile 2x4, 45°.

Put it horizontally centered on the back two rows, slope to the front.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

1 dark stone grey flat tile 1x6,

and 2 dark stone grey one-stepped curve tiles 2x2x⅔.

Put one curve tile on the rightmost edge at the front, curve overhanging to the right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left, curve to the left.

Put the flat tile horizontally between the two previous pieces on the front row.

Find 1 white flagpole 1x1x3.

Put it upright on the table. 

Find 1 white round sign 2x2 with clasp. 

Turn it upright and snap the sign onto the flagpole.

It is a traffic sign, printed with a big red circle and the number 50.

Put the traffic sign on the back row at the leftmost edge, round sign to the front.

Find 1 medium nougat brown crate 3x4 with handholds.

Put it on the table. 

Find 4 silver metallic fish with knob.

Put the fish into the crate.

Place the crate with the fish horizontally centered on the structure, leaning up against the roof tile at the back.

The fish crate and roadside are now finished.

You have completed the whole set. Great job! The thief managed to snatch the bank safe and is now speeding through LEGO City much faster than allowed! Will the policeman be able to stop him? If the crook doesn't watch out, he will definitely crash into the crate of fish! A dizzying car chase right through LEGO City awaits!
