LEGO 42633 Hot Dog Food Truck

LEGO Audio & Braille Building Instructions for the LEGO Friends set "Hot Dog Food Truck".

Leo loves hot dogs and today he's visiting the hot dog truck. Will he choose a traditional hot dog or try the new vegan option? Inside the van there's everything Kaya needs to prepare the tasty treats. She chats to Leo and shows him the drinks area where he fills his glass – he loves to mix the flavors! When it's time to eat, Leo takes a seat with his cat Churro.

The box cover shows a sunny day in Heartlake City. The food truck is parked on a brightly paved square that is fenced in with an ornate metal railing and lush green bushes. The shape of the food truck actually mimics an oversized hot dog! Its base color is beige-brown, just like the crust of white bread. It is rounded off on the left and right sides like a hot dog bun, and between those rounded off bits, the bright red ends of a fake sausage are sticking out! The food truck is open on one side and does not have a roof. It does have a counter where Kaya hands out the food, a kitchenette with fridge and hot plate, a cash register, a menu with pictures of the food and the respective prices, and a colorful roof sign with the logo of the hot dog stand. Leo is standing in front of the truck with a money bill while Kaya is in the truck, busy preparing Leo's order. Leo has his cat Churro with him! The juice table and the hot dog table are set up in front of the truck so customers can help themselves to a refreshing beverage or mustard and ketchup as needed. There are also two small chairs to enjoy your food in peace. In the background of the scene, there are three apartment buildings against a bright blue sky. Let's get started!

Open the box. This can be tricky; ask someone to help you!

The box contains 2 booklets with visual building instructions, 2 numbered bags, and 1 loose piece: a wagon bottom 6x16x2 with mudguards and 4 connectors. Ask a sighted person to help you find the correct bag!

Carefully open bag number 1 and any small sub-bags in it. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Kaya Minidoll, and the Food Truck.

Before you start building, ask a sighted person to help you sort the pieces by color. This makes finding the correct pieces even easier!

First, we will build the Kaya Minidoll.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 warm tan, baby blue and white Minidoll upper body,

and 1 baby blue and warm tan pair of legs with cargo shorts.

Put the upper body on the legs.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 lemon yellow hairpiece with loose ponytail and long fringes.

and 1 warm tan Minidoll head.

Put the head on the body.

Put the hair on top.

Next, we will assemble a vegan hot dog.

Note that the vegan and meat hot dogs only differ in color. The shapes of their individual pieces are identical.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 pale ocher yellow bread bun,

and 1 flame yellowish orange sausage.

Put the sausage centered into the bun, both bending upwards.

Put the hot dog on top of Kaya's hand.

The Kaya Minidoll is finished! Well done! Kaya is wearing baby blue dungarees with a front pocket and green straps that are crossed at the back. Underneath, she is wearing a sleeveless white shirt with a collar and small pink dots. Her shoes are bright green with white soles and laces, and her socks are white, too. She has a sweet smile on her face, and guess what: her eyes are different colors! Her left eye is blue, and her right eye is a brownish grey. She will be the one operating the food truck, so let's continue!

Now, we will build the Food truck.

A little teaser for the food truck: once we are done building it, the food truck itself will resemble a larger-than-life version of an actual hot dog, including an oversized decoration sausage! You'll see! But now, let's continue building.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 dark stone grey and pale ocher yellow wagon bottom 6x16x2 with mudguards and 4 connectors,

and 1 bright yellow brick 1x2x2.

Put the wagon bottom 6x16 horizontally on the table, connectors to the front and back.

Put the brick 1x2x2 vertically on the rightmost column (this is the high column on the right edge), starting from its backmost edge.

Find another bright yellow brick 1x2x2.

Put it vertically on the leftmost column, starting from its backmost edge.

Find 2 pale ocher yellow bricks 1x1x3.

Put 1 on the backmost row directly to the right of the previous piece.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Collect the following 3 pieces:

2 transparent wall elements 1x4x3 with 4 top knobs,

and 1 pale ocher yellow wall element 1x4x3 with 4 top knobs. (This piece is printed.)

Put 1 transparent wall element horizontally to the left of the previous piece, panel to the front. This means it will sit on the backmost row.

Put the printed wall element horizontally to the left of the previous piece, again panel to the front.

This piece is printed with the menu of the food truck: it has a lime green frame, a pale lime green background, and it shows the meat hot dog with mustard, the vegan hot dog with ketchup, and a juice with straw. The hot dogs cost 4 each, and the juice costs 2.

Put the other transparent wall element horizontally to the left of the previous piece, panel to the front.

Find 2 salmon pink half-cylinder pieces 1x4x⅔.

Put 1 horizontally on the previous piece and the brick 1x1x3 to its left to connect them. This means the rightmost knob of the previous piece will remain empty for now.

Repeat symmetrically on the right.

Next, we will build the food truck's roof sign.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 salmon pink plate 1x6,

and 1 bright yellowish green curve brick 1x3x2 with 1 knob.

Put the plate 1x6 horizontally on the table.

Put the curved brick 1x3x2 horizontally on the previous piece's right half, curve to the right.

Find another bright yellowish green curved brick 1x3x2 with 1 knob.

Put it horizontally to the left of the previous piece, curve to the left.

Find 1 bright yellowish green top angle plate 1x2 - 2x2 with 4 side knobs.

Put it horizontally on top of the 2 previous pieces, side knobs to the front.

Find 1 white flat tile 2x4 with round corners. (This piece is printed.)

Put it upright horizontally on the 4 side knobs. Make sure it is centered and does not protrude the topmost edge or the right or left edge.

This piece is printed with the food truck's logo: a tasty hot dog on what looks like a green paper plate with a wavy edge, surrounded by pink and yellow stars.

The roof sign is finished! Great job! Mount it horizontally centered between the 2 half-cylinder pieces we have mounted previously. Make sure the flat tile with round corners is to the front.

Find 2 bright red plates 1x2.

Put 1 vertically on the rightmost column in front of the brick 1x2x2. If done correctly, the 2 frontmost knobs of the rightmost column remain empty for now.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 2 bright red bricks 1x2x1⅔ with 4 side knobs.

Put 1 vertically on top of the previous piece, side knobs to the left.

Repeat symmetrically on the right, side knobs to the right.

Find 2 bright yellow bricks 1x2x2.

Put 1 vertically in front of the previous piece.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Next up, we will build the kitchenette with fridge and hot plate.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green brick 2x4,

and 1 white cupboard element 2x2x2 with bottom hinges.

Put the brick 2x4 horizontally on the table.

Put the cupboard element on the right half of the brick, opening towards the front.

Find 1 medium stone grey plate 2x2 with 1 knob.

Put it to the left of the previous piece.

Find 1 transparent cupboard door 2x2 with slit.

Snap the 2 small indentations on the short edge on the 2 bottom hinges of the cupboard. Open and close it as needed.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright red sausage,

and 1 black pan.

Put the sausage into the fridge.

Put the pan on the knob of the plate 2x2 to the left of the fridge.

The kitchenette with fridge and hot plate is finished! Great job! Mount it horizontally in the right back corner of the food truck. This means it should touch the right side wall and the back wall.

Now, we will build the cash register.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 white roof tile 2x2, 45°, (this piece is printed)

and 1 bright yellowish green brick 2x4.

Put the brick 2x4 horizontally on the table.

Put the roof tile 2x2 on the left half of the brick, slope to the front.

This piece is printed with a light blue number pad with display, a contactless payment pad and a credit card slot.

Find 1 medium stone grey grille tile 1x2.

Put it horizontally on the front row to the right of the previous piece.

The cash register is finished! Great job! Mount it horizontally in the left back corner of the food truck. This means it should touch the back wall as well as the left side wall.

Find 1 pale ocher yellow smooth roof tile 1x2x⅔.

Put it upright horizontally on the 2 middle side knobs pointing to the front, slope to the bottom.

Find 1 salmon pink plate 2x6 with 2 rounded corners.

Put it horizontally centered on the top surface of the previous piece and the row behind it, rounded corners to the front.

Next, we will assemble the 4 wheels.

Collect the following 8 pieces:

4 black wide rubber tires with high profile,

and 4 white wide rims with hole and spokes.

Put the rims into the tires.

The 4 wheels are finished! Well done! Snap them on the 4 connectors of the truck, making sure that the spokes are facing outwards.

Find 2 pale ocher yellow quarter-arch curve bricks 3x3x2.

Flip 1 upright so that its knob is pointing to the right. Make sure that the curves are to the bottom and to the back. This means that its smooth sides are to the top and to the front.

Mount it on the right side surface of the wagon bottom. To do so, use the back half of the bottom side knobs pointing to the right. Make sure the 2x2 side knobs at the top of the right side wall remain empty.

Put the other one upright in front of the previous piece, curves to the front and to the bottom.

Together, these two pieces mimic the bottom half of a bread bun end. We will build the top half later.

Find another 2 pale ocher yellow quarter-arch curve bricks 3x3x2.

Repeat the previous step symmetrically on the left side knobs: put 1 upright on the back half of the bottom side knobs pointing to the left, curves to the back and to the bottom.

Put the other one upright in front of the previous piece, curves to the bottom and to the front.

Next, we will build the oversized sausage decoration.

Find 4 bright red round bricks 2x2 with top cross hole.

Stack 2 on top of each other.

Repeat with the other two pieces.

Find 2 bright red domes 2x2 with 1 knob.

Put 1 on top of each round brick stack.

The oversized sausage decoration is finished! Flip 1 upright so that its knob is pointing to the right. Mount it on the 4 side knobs pointing to the right so that it is hovering above the curve pieces mimicking the bun.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

Find 4 pale ocher yellow quarter-arch curve bricks 3x3x2.

Put 1 on the back half of the right side wall, curves to the back and right.

Put 1 in front of the previous piece, curves to the front and right.

Repeat symmetrically on the left.

The Food truck is finished! Great job! Fetch Kaya and get to work! You might not have any customers yet, but there is lots of preparation work to do. While Kaya is busy in the truck, we can continue building!

Open bag number 2. You can choose to have the bricks sorted by color again. This bag contains all bricks and pieces for the Leo Minidoll with Churro the cat, the juice table, and the hot dog table.

Next, we will build the Leo Minidoll with Churro the cat.

1 bright red sausage,

and 1 pale ocher yellow bread bun.

Insert the sausage into the bread bun, their ends bending upwards.

Put the hot dog on top of Leo's empty hand.

Find 1 white cat figurine.

This is Churro, Leo's cat! Churro is a white cat with red dots on its front paws, a red spot around its right eye and a tiny red speckle above its left eye and red lined ears. Churro has a grumpy expression on his cute little face. It's not easy to entertain him! He might fancy a bite from the hot dog though.

The Leo Minidoll with Churro the cat is finished! Great job! Leo is wearing baby blue lace-ups with white soles, a bright yellow pair of baggy Bermuda shorts and a white T-shirt with a pink collar and a colorful pattern print on it: there are pink flowers with white middles, splashes of green and a pink chest pocket. Leo has brown eyes and a friendly smile on his face. He is one of Kaya's best customers. Maybe he wants to pay the food truck a visit right away!

Next, we will build the juice table.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green plate 2x6,

and 1 bright yellowish green brick 1x2.

Hold the plate 2x6 horizontally.

Put the brick 1x2 vertically underneath the leftmost column. This will be a bit wobbly now, but don't worry, the next step will fix this.

Find another bright yellowish green brick 1x2.

Put it vertically underneath the rightmost column of the plate 2x6.

Find 1 white brick 1x4.

Put it horizontally on the back row, starting from the left edge.

Repeat with the 2 remaining pieces on the right side knob and the right round brick.

These are the 2 juice containers!

Find 2 transparent wine glasses 1x1x2.

Put 1 on the front row on its rightmost knob.

Put the other one on the back knob on the second knob from the right.

The juice table is finished! Well done! What do you reckon the flavors of the two different juices might be? Their colors are orange and pink. In any case, they sure look refreshing!

Next, we will build the hot dog table.

Collect the following 2 pieces:

1 bright yellowish green plate 2x6,

and 1 bright yellowish green brick 1x2.

Find 2 white water taps.

Put 1 on each of the 2 previous pieces.

You have just built the ketchup and mustard bottles!

Find 1 black sausage.

Place it in front of the ketchup and mustard bottles.

Wait, a black sausage? Kaya must have burnt this one. No worries though, everybody makes mistakes sometimes, practice makes perfect!

The hot dog table is finished! Well done! Apply mustard and ketchup as you like, and use the table to put down your hot dog when you need your hands for paying or for tapping juice.

Next, we will build 2 chairs.

Collect the following 4 pieces:

2 white panel elements 1x2x1 with back and side panels,

and 2 bright yellow round bricks 2x2 with top cross hole.

The 2 chairs are finished! Well done! Now, Kaya's customers can enjoy their hot dogs while sitting down.

You have finished building the entire set! Well done! It is time to get your tasty treats to the people of Heartlake City. The food truck is mobile, so you can take it wherever you expect hungry customers: events, parks, birthday parties, and so on. Fill up your supplies, make sure the sausages are refrigerated, and start making delicious hot dogs for vegans and meat lovers alike! And be careful not to burn too many sausages.

Enjoy!
